88-51 techsters win
This group has it in them..... They may have to work harder than some others, but consistency is the issue....
currently the techsters are ranked
#145 nationaly. wow, how far they have fallen.
champ.
they have it in them to do what?
I don't mind telling ya.....an 88-51 win looks pretty darn good up next to the men's embarrassing loss at Charlotte. At least the Lady Techsters can score!
I have been very, very disappointed with the performance of the Techsters during Brooke's tenure. I have been a strong supporter of hers, because I have seen what she has accomplished as a coach before. I know she can flat out coach because I have seen it, heard it, first hand. I have not attended any Techster practices, but did see her coaching at practice at NSU. And during the games. Once we were "honorary coaches" for a Lady Demon game we sat just behind the bench, out on the floor. I listened and watched her coach....she can flat out coach!
One game we attended the Lady Demons got smoked by Central Arkansas bad! I mean something like 75-40, or some ridiculous score like that. Brooke sent her players into the stands to apologize to the fans. Brooke vowed...never again...that lousy play won't happen ever again. Two weeks later they went up there and beat UCA on their home floor. Talk about turning it around! NSU also danced that year, for the second time. They entered the SLC Tourney as the 6th seed, but everyone, and I mean everyone, had them pegged as the prohibitive favorite because of how they were playing late in the season.
That is the coach Brooke is. And it's why, even though I am as disappointed as anyone, I still harbor that slither of hope, even for this season!
I feel the same way, dawg80... I remember that season at NSU, as well. I didn't follow them closely, but watched the championship game. I have NO doubt in Brooke at all. She is trying her best to get this team to perform consistently, as opposed to just showing up and playing uninspired. It is hit and miss right now. I think she will have them playing well by the end of the season, but don't know if that will be enough in the CUSA tournament (and, yes, I do think we will have a middle of the pack seed by then).
One worry I have is recruiting. Brooke goes for players that are under the radar, it seems. I would like to see an all out push to snag a few greats out of high school. If this staff can find those one or two top recruits and convince them to help us rebuild, she would have a lot to work with for a conference championship and a tournament bid. In other words, we have seen her at NSU and at Tech take a blue collar team and do good things. Just imagine what she could do with top talent in several positions.
Marshall beats Techsters 90-88 in triple overtime Thurs night
