This guy has some huge ups and some huge downs. I like the risk and I think this guy could do a lot with the talent level around us. He is an LB guy which I like and I am willing to give him a chance.

Another Diaz type reclammation project -
Hopefully he rebounds like Diaz did and someone hires him away after two or three years - because that would mean we have put a quality defense on the field and been somewhat successful....
This has a different feel than HCSH's OC hire - BD has been good at several places and let's face it - Husker football has really been bad the last decade, woefully bad...
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
Agree, I have no problem with this hire and am looking forward to see how he does here. I watched some of his games at UCONN for some reason and his defenses were always good they just could not score points. I mean they would routinely lose 16-13 it seems like then. Nebraska was a dumpster before he came and one year wasn't going to change that with Riley there. It looks like he has run a 3-4 so it appears we are about to make a change. I believe NT ran a 3-4 last year and they had a good D not sure anyone else in CUSA runs 3-4.
The thing about a 3-4 is that you need a Big NT and some very athletic LBs. I don't know if we would have the personnel to run it successfully the first year. Coach Diaco became famous for developing unheralded kids into stud linebackers. I know we got way more talent here than anywhere else he has coached and the competition is far less too. I am anxious to see what he can do.
Allow me to clarify. North Louisiana has way more talent than a lot of other places he has been. Tech certainly has great players but I certainly didn't intend to compare them directly to Nebraska, Notre Dame and Oklahoma. What I meant was that from a competition comparison we have more talent than many of the areas that he has coached before. He should be able to find unheralded players that would compete well above CUSA level talent.
I’m not excited about switching to a 3-4 from a 4-3. If we had Justin Ellis back at NT then yeah. If we do indeed go with it, we won’t be anywhere near good the first year. We shall see.
Can we go back in time and get Malcolm Pichon and Big Vern?
Here’s to reviving his career at Tech.
3-4 will be a huge fail with the guys we have now.
