You are correct in the assertion that USM shares the blame. I am afraid we have let the company we keep drag us down to their level. We founded this conference and at times, there was no doubt who the best outside of the p5 was. USM. Louisville. TCU. Houston. UCF. Cincinnati. USF. ECU. And, we won multiple CUSA championships during that time. The creation of 3.0 gave many of us the false hope that we would dominate and rule the league with all these teams no one had ever heard of (Charlotte/Old Dominion/FAU/FIU/WKU/UTSA). Wrong. I believe getting left behind when all of our peers/rivals went AAC had an effect on the program that still haunts us today. We had a winning record against every team (also including Tulane,Memphis and SMU) that left for the AAC, and yet here we sat, twiddling our thumbs, waiting for something good to happen. I heard it phrased best by a long time supporter; "These other programs used CUSA as a springboard to better things. USM used it as a hammock" So yes Dawg06, you are correct. The conference sucks in part because we haven't been the USM of old in quite some time. With a road game against Troy this year, we may well lose to another Belt team. We may lose them all. Except this one game that history shows we have a 70% chance of winning. Pretty sure the other team will find a way to give us another one.
