At least they were able to win in Little Rock tonight even though it took 12 innings

Yes, I’m glad we were able to gut it out after blowing the save in the 9th and getting a runner picked off first in the 12th.

I’ve never known a baseball team at any level to consistently commit baserunning blunders like Burroughs’ teams do.

Our high school team doesn't have 1/2 of the outs on the base paths...its amazing

He knows he screws up. He called it "being aggressive" in an early season interview.

Perhaps it’s time someone with some sort of power steps in and has a conversation with whoever is in charge of us having so many baserunning outs. But I doubt Tommy knows much about baseball.

    Re: Baseball America projects Tech...

In order to improve upon Tech’s chances to make the NCAA tournament, tonight begins with what needs to be a 4 game winning streak. Based on my simple assessment of the season as far as expected wins are concerned, Tech is at -1. I think going into the Arkansas series at 10-2 will have us evaluated as ‘even’. We’d better be a hypothetical (=) going against the Razorbacks than needing to beat them multiple times to improve our status. Go Dawgs, play up to our full potential. 4 & 0 here we come...

    Re: Baseball America projects Tech...

To continue this rudimentary evaluation of the Tech season, losing at home to the Demons dropped the Dogs to -2 towards an at large NCAA tournament invitation. Now the challenge moves uphill to improve things versus the Razorbacks. Simply put, in my opinion each win against them would be worth 1 point with a sweep being worth a total of 4 points. On the flip side of things being swept this weekend would put Tech at -4 for the season. Making up 4 points against the season won’t be easy. That’s essentially winning 4 series as the underdog with Tech possibly not being the underdog all that often.

Let’s hope the Bulldogs find the unity and team effort they're capable of. Going 2-1 this series would be awesome...

    Re: Baseball America projects Tech...

To advance my evaluation of Tech, I have the Dawgs improving to -1 after picking up a very valuable win at Arkansas this weekend. Things only get tougher this week though with 2 midweek games at home against Sam Houston State (a quality 10-3 team on a 5 game winning streak, with a 3 game sweep of ULL & a 1 run lose to Miss St. to their credit). Then starting Friday there's a 3 game home series against conference rival Southern Miss.

Without looking too far ahead, in order to build things continuously positive, Tech really needs to beat SHS twice as I see each game being worth 1 point. Winning both would be great at putting Tech +1 for the season, to split the games 1-1 would be tolerable in leaving Tech in reach at -1, but to lose both would be hard hitting especially when trying to keep pace in earning an NCAA tournament invitation at -3.

Tech really needs all phases of its game to come together this week otherwise things could go seriously sour very quickly. Its going to take some much improved pitching and more than some sporadic good innings at bat to win the majority of this week's games.

We don't have the pitching to compete but we have a dugout full of juco and HS guys who have not seen the bump. Great roster management by our HC for the 3rd year in a row.

    Re: Baseball America projects Tech...

After defeating Sam Houston State, I’m considering Tech at even (=) balance for the year in winning the games I think they should win and need to win. All considered that’s a good place to be heading into the Southern Miss series.

These next 3 games are easily valued at one positive point per win (+1) and a negative point per loss (-1). At a minimum Tech needs to win the series in order to start building into the plus column of favorable wins against quality teams.

I really don’t want Tech trying to play catch-up all season. That’s a sure way to be on that shit list ‘of first out’ when I comes NCAA decision time.

I think the key to success this weekend is going to be a strong hitting performance with a goal of 7 runs per game.
