Because these topics get buried in other threads...
in the past couple of weeks 160 Nigerian Christians have been brutally murdered by Muslims. They are just the most recent victims of an on-going war on Christians in sub-Sahara Africa, which is just a subset of the war on Christians around the world.
Did you know about it? Have you seen a parade of self-serving politicians, and media-types, on TV expressing disgust with those murders? Have you?

This is far more complex than religious persecution. This conflict also has to do with indigenous right claims and farmers and herders competing for the same limited resource. That doesn’t excuse it, mind you, but this isn’t the same thing as bloodshed over religious intolerance that we are seeing with the growing trend of white nationalism and Islamic terrorism.

As for the so-called "growing trend of white nationalism" you just said a mouthful. You just explained why these lone wolves are just now starting to pop up. "Growing trend"? I don't know about that, in fact, no one does, unless it does indeed "grow" and trends up. Which remains to be seen. Back to the point...this guy in NZ was reacting to what is taking place across the world. He didn't start it. He, and anyone else of the same mind set, is not blind to the REAL THREAT and its trend: the spread of "radical Islam." But those of us who actually know, what some refer to as "radical" is actually the mainstream of Islam. Which, is not really "Islam" anyway. Whatever misguided religion that once was has been corrupted by "Muslimism."
And this is nothing new. It dates back to the 7th Century. Periodically, throughout history, the moooslims have gathered their forces and attempted world conquest. The Ottoman Turks, the Moors, ISIS...all following the same playbook, all following the marching orders of the original murderer, Muhammad.
So, why are there no televised vigils for the Nigerian Christians murdered? There are vigils, there is acknowledgement, thoughts and prayers for the victims, and their families. But nothing covered by the media. We all know why...it doesn't fit the agenda.

And I didn’t defend the Fulani herdsman at all. I only pointed out that the killings are less about intolerance than land claims and competition for land. This is just a different kind of problem than white nationalism and Islamic terrorism. That type of violence is the result of a specific type of narrative, which Trump perpetuates, that is based on religious, ethnic, and nationalist bigotries that are given safe harbor to fester and foment.

Moreover, according to the report, 1.3 million Christians in Northern Nigeria “have become internally displaced or have settled in other areas of Nigeria in search for safety and security” since 2000.
One of the more frightening revelations from the report is the finding that the executioners are not just from the well-known Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram, but comprise many other more “moderate” Muslims as well.
The sources of violence against Christians in Northern Nigeria are diverse, yet have one thing in common. They are “connected through a common religious denominator: defending northern Muslims’ interests, Muslim identity and the position of Islam,” the report states.
That is basically what I said. The Fulani herdsman are killing people because they want access to their indigenous grazing lands that the other people are using for farming. This is not your classic Islamic terrorism where the terrorists are principally concerned with creating a holy war against Judeo-Christian beliefs.
This anti-Muslim narrative that you right wing extremists are trying to create is very much like the anti-Judeo Christian narrative that Islamists create when the West drone bombs a building killing civilians.
Both sets of extremists feed off each other and make the problem worse because you define the enemy as anyone that is part of the other religion. The world would be much better off if both sides gave up their stupid retrograde religions.

so, did the killing exceed the 160 Christian? How many who espouse other religions lost their lives?

You put too much stock in what you read on social media.
120 in Nigeria and another 40 in Chad. Nigeria has been hardest hit. According to reports, 700 Christians have been murdered in Chad since 2015.
There is also slavery going on in northern Africa. Mostly it's mooslims operating out of Libya raiding into Chad, and also Niger, and seizing Christians at gun point. They are being sold into slavery.
Goosey tries to justify the violence against Christians, by the mooslims, by stating they are doing it as a land grab. Well, that certainly makes it okay! But, note, it's only Christians being murdered for their land. A mooslim group of thugs doesn't attack other mooslims, kill and take their land. They attack Christian farmers. And, as the article points out, while it used to be strictly the extreme radicals, like Boko Haram, now even the "everyday run-of-the-mill mooslims" so-called "moderates," are killing too.
I didn’t justify the violence at all. I am explaining the origin, which is different than a religious war. The Nigerian government gave rights to the farmers but the Fulani Herdsman are a tribe that moves to wherever the resources. They have been committing mass violence against the farmers since the 90s and there was at least episodes of conflict that go back to the 1970s. Any connection to Boko Haram is about mutual convenience, but they do not really share a common mission. The Fulani just don’t respect others property rights.
