Dawgs 5 MTSU 1
Good start in the series! Need a sweep!!!!!!
Hopefully Miller’s pitching performance last night will be a precursor for how the rest of the weekend will go. Tech absolutely does need a sweep to make up for last weekend’s dud of a start to conference play.
Not a bad job pitching today, but LB's Jucos are not getting the job done on offense or defense. He cut some high school guys to make room for his juco guys while giving us short roster numbers, but they can't hit or field. By my count we are down to 32 on the roster now.
35 wins means NOTHING, but our AD may give him a contract extension for another 35 win season.
We got about 4 in the everyday lineup that are piling up the Ks instead of the RBIs
A woeful losing performance today. 35 wins could be questionable. So disappointing... I was really looking forward to this senior heavy team’s season thinking there was a shot at an NCAA spot. It’s very upsetting seeing Tech constantly being under accomplishing in its major sports.
We are currently 13-9 with 33 games left to play, assuming that we don't have any scratched due to weather. We would have to go 22-11 the rest of the way to make 35 wins. I don't see that happening. Granted we could pick up a few in the tournament, but that appears to be a fools hope right now.
35 wins is "significant" only because we didn't reach 36 wins. It's as meaningless as 20 wins is in MBB, but our AD thinks it helps his resume, so whatever...
IMO 30 wins is significant when a team has been struggling for years but certainly not a yearly goal. 40 wins should be the goal along with the conference championship and a regional appearance. We've only accomplished two of those in the last 4 years. Anything less than 40 and/or a regional is a fail by our HC.
I don't see the spark in our current basketball or baseball coach that was in our previous basketball and baseball coach. In other words, they will not be hired away for more money to a wealthier school, therefore we are stuck with the current basketball and baseball coaches for the next several years...

Yep. Our brilliant AD gave them all contract extensions. Why? They certainly didn't earn them. Normally that is done as a pat on the back saying, "We are happy with your progress." In our AD's case I believe he did it to buy a future excuse for not firing them when it is obvious they are mediocre at best. Keep in mind he kept Simoneaux for the final year of his contract knowing the program was at rock bottom. He will never fire a coach for "competing". That seems to be the new term with our coaches, but "competing" does not sell tickets.
I’ve heard it said repeatedly that Sunday’s are all about toughness. Well we’ll see if that’s caught on yet based on our very hurtful loss last Sunday. I’m wondering if toughness really matters when certain skills within the team are so lacking. I’m also wondering since I haven’t heard it said yet that I can remember what our head coach says about coaching and what it takes on their part to succeed. It is ultimately supposed to be the coaches who lead the way right?
At the start of the season I sure didn't figure we'd be 13 - 9 and 1 - 4 in conference at this point. We should have won at least 2 games against USM but getting swept was a killer.
We better get on a winning streak because at this rate we won't be in Biloxi in May.
Just heard Lane Burroughs comments on the Sunday pre-game show. He spewed forth a constant stream of buzz words and excuses. He may be clueless about what needs to be done.
