Conf Sunbelt Lady Techsters Travel South to UL-Lafayette for Non-Conference Battle

Nobody's talking much about this upcoming game on Sunday, 12/19, in Laughayette. But both teams are 7-2, and it looks like a very even match on paper. No doubt, the Lady Techsters could get a real boost by winning this one on the road.

LA Tech's 2 losses this season were against Ole Miss (62-44) and at Colorado (59-48), while the Ragin Cajuns 2 losses were to LSU (70-41) and Houston (63-51). The Techsters' best win was probably over Boise St (60-57) in Boulder, on Nov 26th, while the Cajuns' best win was probably at Rice 73-69, on Nov 13th.

We have a lot of pieces still gelling but unlike previous years there is something there to gel. We need this one.

    Laughayette

    HogDawg you crack me up!
And you are right we need to win Sunday.
A loss Sunday would give ULALA more undeserved attention and press (if only in South LA) BUT a Techster win will go along way in building momentum for this team. And IMHO we now have players that understand team and are willing to listen to the coaches.
I have high hope that we are seeing the rebirth of WBB at Louisiana Tech.

This is Brooke's best class since she has been here. A win against Ulala will be a good sign that we will definitely compete in conference this year!

Tech leads this series 41-2. To say "beating ULL would be a good win" just shows how far down this program is and is never coming back.
Fire the current over-priced co heads and hire a cheap high coach. The results would be the exact same, no tournament appearance.

If our AD keeps his pattern going, I don't see our coaches staying unless they produce a championship or an NCAA tournament bid.

Showed my kids the national championship display the other day and it just made me sad. From an undefeated season to hoping we go 0.500

I disagree. I think that would be a very bad strategy. Brooke had coaching credentials when she got here. But more importantly, I think Brooke "got the message" when Eric Wood was hired. The first thing she did at the end of the 2020-21 season was turn over 10 (77%) of her 13 roster spots to new players. That was a pretty bold move. She knew she needed better athletes.

Re: Lady Techsters Travel South to UL-Lafayette for Non-Conference Battle

NEWS_BOT: This is just an awfully written story. Please send this writer to Journalism school.

Roberson had been a force on the defensive end of the floor for Tech, ranking third in rebounds (9.4 rpg), fourth in blocked shots (1.56 bpg), while contributing on the offensive end of the floor with 12.9 points per game.
Does "Roberson" have a first name? Then tell us her first name. You never did that in this "story". I know you are referring to Anna Larr Roberson, but many people won't know that when they read this story. Also, you stated that "Roberson had been a force"....past tense, as if she no longer is? Is she out with an injury or something? WTH? No explanation was given for the past tense statement. Please just clean it up and make it easier for readers to read next time.

There are other errors too; e.g., "The Lady Techsters and the Ragin Cajuns meet last season "..... You also failed to include "Robersons" bio at the bottom of the story in the "Players mentioned" section. Please clean it up.

    Class is dismissed.

    Granted the Sun Belt Conference is generally looked on as weak - but I think you need to do a little more homework on the ULL WBB program. In his 10th year Garry Brodhead has brought stability to the ULL WBB program;
    2019-20
Most likely would have won SBC conference tourney if the semifinal had not been canceled.

2020-21 ─ 16-8, 13-1 and finished the season in the WNIT

So far this year they are 7-2 this year (same as us)

I agree, anyone that follows the program closely can see the obvious difference in the roster. Pretty much cleaned house and put together a group of players willing to play as a team. The previous two seasons were hurt by too much infighting and selfishness.

    Exactly!

To the others posting about ULL isn't a big deal, my posts are referencing where we have been over the past 20 years. When you beat a team with the same record as you, you are doing well (in comparison to where we have been lately). In order to build, you have to start somewhere. We are not national contenders and YES that is sad, but we need to beat ULL and go on to work on winning a conference championship. That is the CURRENT situation. Our all time record against ULL has nothing to do with this year and right now. Our WBB needs to be as good as our MBB right now. We can wish for more when we hit other milestones. We have better players, but we are not going to out-recruit top national programs at this point.

I will add that I always believed that once we dropped out of top 25, we would have a VERY difficult time getting back (even if we had Barmore coaching). It can be done, but is going to take a LOT to be able to recruit players that can win against big opponents. Start by winning a conference championship and go from there. ULL is decent this year and will be a good win.
