Sounds B-O-R-I-N-G to me.
I can't help but think Louisiana Tech is at least partially responsible for his downfall, simply because we hired a 23-yr old boy to coach our women's program. It was one of the poorest decisions this school has ever made. That just had stupid written all over it. I honestly hope the kid recovers, and can move on with his life.
Pretty strong evidence in that story of why Summitt should have been fired before that 2015-2016 season. The fact that he wasn't is strong evidence as to why McClelland and anyone else in Tech administration who had knowledge of the situation or failed to fully investigate it should have been fired around the time Summitt resigned.
Tyler is drawing $173,000 a year for the rest of his life. He's doing okay. But, the damage he brought on others, including Tech, has never been made amends for.
IMO, the quote above is very damning for Tommy McClelland and Louisiana Tech. And neither McClelland or Tech are "responding" because they know they will have to explain, "what did you know, and when did you know it?" If Vasquez's story is true, then our former AD and "a handful of school officials" are guilty of not reporting the incident(s) for at least 7 months before Summit resigned in April. One could easily argue that our paid employees allowed the wrongdoing to continue for months. WTH?Rochelle Vasquez, then a junior guard who was Pumroy’s roommate, said then-athletic director Tommy McClelland was among a handful of school officials who jointly asked her about the rumored affair in October, before the season started.
McClelland, who now works at Vanderbilt, declined to comment through a school official. Louisiana Tech did not respond to a request for comment.
There's no need for our fans to point fingers at LSU, or Baylor or anybody else accused of having lost "institutional control" when Louisiana Tech is guilty of the exact same thing. We had a married coach preying on student athletes. The biggest difference is, our "issues" were apparently covered up better.
Don’t tell TT about this
BS! While the whole Summitt mess was unfortunate and mishandled, it was still an incident of two consenting adults. It does not even begin to approach the travesties that occurred at Baylor and LSU. There is no moral equivalency...not even close.
And still nowhere near what happened at Baylor and LSU. I am speaking to the incident itself...maybe you missed that part. As for the rest, heck! I was calling for TMAC to be fired for a number of reasons. This is just another nail in that coffin. I do hope the scandal follows him to Vandy and he gets fired there....Oh chit! what am I saying, Vandy is S-E-C!!!
Did Dr. Guise know about it and participate in the cover-up? If so, fire his worthless azz too!
Everything that I have read on this thread, I think, could lead one to believe that Tyler Summit divorced his first wife. I seriously doubt that. She probably kicked his butt out, and she should have. She left the relationship with her honor intact. Notice how carefully he says that no child resulted from his and Brooke's affair. I do not recall where he said no pregnancy resulted from same affair. Hmmmm! A lifetime endowment of $173,000 per year solves a world of problems when you are very ill equipped to step out into the cruel world on your own in search of similar results. Certainly frees one up to spew forth a lot of ideals. And, as an only child, he probably inherited all of Pat's assets. Just think--if he would have played by the rules and made the most of the opportunity given to him by Louisiana Tech where he might be today--guilt free.
The history of the Lady Techsters is filled with multitudes of talented and honorable personalities. Then there is Tyler Summit.
P. S. One of the most prominent personalities is Kim Mulkey. Much to the chagrin of dawg80, she just keeps piling on the positive publicity for the Techsters.
And Benedict Arnold was a brilliant general...he was 4-0 vs. the British in battles when he was in command. And then, due to his ultra ego, he stabbed our nation in the back. Taken as a whole there is nothing prominent or positive about Arnold.
And then there is pigtails...I loved how she got screwed on that no-call in her loss to UCONN. Loved it! And then, to boot, with all the talk about how the Baylor-UCONN game should have been a Final Four, if not the championship game, Arizona sent that nonsense to the trash heap too! LOL!
