Leal is beginning to come back, it seems!
FAU has the outright conference lead at 8-1 after beating FIU 4-3 in 15 innings. Tech gained a game on the leader with USM losing the series and the conference lead at UTSA. Roadrunners play at Tech next weekend.
WKU (7-1-1) literally threw away a half-game as an error led to Charlotte scoring two in the 9th to tie the game 13-13. The game had to be called due to travel curfew before WKU could bat in the bottom of the 9th.

Dawgs sweep today with a 5-2 win. David Leal relieves in the ninth for his first appearance of the year. Gets two K's and no base runners.
It was a taskman like weekend, Tech did what they needed to do to win while UAB failed to make good on their repeated opportunities.
Our weak points are glaringly obvious and need to be improved upon quickly. Things are only going to get tougher.
Congratulations Dawgs on a much needed sweep... keep it going.
A sweep over UTSA would be magic pills right now. FAU and Marshall back to back is going to be a very tough stretch. If we could find some way to win both series, we are right there near the top of the leaderboard.
No, No, no... Didn't you read 06's post?? After the USM sweep, we're done. Season is over. No point in trying anymore.
I'll take a series win this weekend and every other weekend. As we all know sweeps are rare.
I think we knew after USM and especially after the ulm loss that we were not going to get to 40 wins which means we are not getting an at large, which means we have to win the tournament, which we've never come close to doing even in 2016.
BTW, we ain't in the tournament yet.
Let's just get in the conference tournament first -
And then win more than one game once we get there - which is something our current HC has not been able to do here (or at NWSt if my memory is correct)...
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
We’ve got a lot of pieces missing right now if we hope to make any noise in the tournament. Hopefully Leal can become a solid starter again and we can find a way to get more contributors in the lineup.
Yeah, sounds like another head coach on campus - not willing to see what someone else might could do.
He has proven to be stubborn when pitching decisions need to be made. He keeps guys on the roster who he does not use and cuts guys who would have done well in short relief. He also inserts relievers who throw good batting practice. This is not on the pitching coach. It's on the HC.
Remember Nate Harris and how he was mishandled? Probably cost us 4 games minimum and an at large bid.
