That’s more like it Dawgs! Congratulations on a quality resurgence. Now just keep it going.

From what I’ve seen lately it looks like we’re down to about 6-7 pitchers, starters included, who share duty from time to time. I wonder what it’ll take to see any of the others. Apparently they aren’t worthy to play. That’s speaks very poorly of our pitching development. IF we make the NCAAs it’s going to take more than those few arms to get us anywhere significant.

Re: Bulldogs Return Home to Host Marshall in Three-Game Conference Set

Leal finished strong, retiring the last 8 Marshall batters.

On the postgame, HCLB said that Smith's arm came up sore. He wasn't available today, and was probably unlikely for Saturday. That's why Leal was extended out to 62 pitches.

Also, as a reminder there is a travel curfew at 2:00 PM Saturday. No half-inning can start after that time.

    Status of other conference series--

UTSA at UAB--UTSA was awarded the win in the game suspended at 12-1 in the middle of the 8th from Thursday as no play was possible on Friday in Birmingham. Two 7-inning games are scheduled Saturday.

MT at Rice--Rice has won the first two games convincingly.

Charlotte at USM--USM won Friday's doubleheader.

FAU at WKU--Game 1 of the series in Bowling Green was suspended with FAU ahead 4-1 in the bottom of the 4th with 2 outs (0-2 count) and Hilltoppers at 2nd and 3rd.

FIU at ODU--Game 1 was postponed Friday.

    "Worst" sort of way?

Each team commits a bunch of errors, make base running goofs, chase pitches out of the strike zone, they do have more hits and more earned runs...but Marshall commits a horrendous error in the 9th, the Dawgs escape with a win, and we all say that was one ugly win! the worst of the season! And you say, "good! we needed to win in the worst sort of way....and we did!" Is that what you meant???

    Just messing with ya....

Actually, if that were to happen, I'd take it!

One of our biggest strategy flaws is being up 0-2 in the count and missing badly on the potential 3rd strike pitch. We do it all the time and miss so badly that the batter essentially gets that pitch to relax. Then we struggle coming back to throw another good pitch. We do this so often that it has to be what the pitching coach wants. I obviously don’t agree. In my opinion when we’ve got the batter defensive, go after him.

HBTD! I have to say winning 19-6 and 11-1 by run rule have taken the sting out of Thursday’s loss! Now let’s root for wku to take 2 of 3 from fau.

Your post isn’t aging too well.

We just got swept by a team with a losing record. And one of the reasons why is the customary bone-headed moves by our HC.

That and his inability to steer his team’s mental state. When the team is on a high everything is cool, but when they’re not playing well, ‘that’s just baseball, it’ll turn around soon enough’. You know what, I’m not buying it. Good coaches, legitimately good coaches turn things around with effort, smarts and push. Anybody can wait until old Mo turns good fortune back your way, but by then as in now the season is suddenly going down the drain. You can’t expect to trust 20 year olds to find their way out of a funk that’s why there are 40, 50... 60 year old quality coaches. We need one of those right now.

    Damn good point.

Burroughs and Holtz are masters of coach speak.
