If you were Taiwan, or the Philippines, Japan, Australia, etc. would you have confidence Trump would order US forces to engage the Chicoms in a war, should China invade? It's a fair question, and a big concern for our "allies" in the Pacific region. Trump just said during one of his impromptu press conferences "President Xi is a friend of mine. I get along great with Xi."
As I have posted elsewhere, Trump plays a good hand of poker. One can never really tell what hand he is holding. But this is real life, not a card game. The whole world knows China wants Taiwan, and if they are able to invade, with no response from the US, then China will attack the Philippines next, and then...who knows?
Trump's foreign policy in his 1st term was brilliant. He enjoyed one of the best terms as POTUS in foreign affairs. He clobbered ISIS, he supported the Kurds...right up to the mistake he made opening his mouth. Which should show him, and his loyal mind-numbed followers, just how critical what the POTUS says is. The whole world hangs on every utterance from the President of the United States...every single word! He built the Quads, he had the Abraham Accords...both HUGE foreign policy accomplishments. No new wars started in the world during his 4-year tenure. The start of his 2nd term has been a foreign policy disaster.
