Hong Kong bars pro-democracy candidates from election, signals intent to uphold new China law

Hong Kong disqualified at least 12 pro-democracy nominees from an upcoming election after the government said the candidates failed to pledge allegiance to both Hong Kong and Beijing.

Among those barred Thursday from the September legislative election are prominent pro-democracy activist Tiffany Yuen, incumbent lawmaker Dennis Kwok from the pro-democracy Civic Party, and Joshua Wong, an activist who topped the polls in an unofficial primary earlier this month.

HONG KONG PRO-DEMOCRACY LEADER FIRED FROM TENURED UNIVERSITY JOB

“#Beijing shows a total disregard for the will of the #Hongkongers, tramples upon the city’s last pillar of vanishing autonomy and attempts to keep #HK’s legislature under its firm grip,” Wong wrote on Twitter following news of the disqualifications.

I love Louisiana... but sometimes... they don't disappoint..

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/louisiana...041025108.html

A Louisiana woman says she planted a mysterious package of seeds she received but only became aware of the trend after seeing the news, WAFB reported.
Residents across all 50 states have reported getting unsolicited packages — the majority of which are from China — that contain mystery seeds in them, Business Insider previously reported.
The Department of Agriculture has warned residents not to plant the seeds.

Our new LCS line of attack "boats."

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3PffmQ6dFY

These ships are designed for shallow water, coastal operations, as well as any ocean, deep water operations, with the support of a supply, refueling ship. They are minimally staffed with crew members having multiple duties/responsibilities depending on what's happening.

The 3" rapid fire cannon, mounted on the bow, is amazing. One crewman can man the gun in combat since it is all computer controlled. The shells are pre-loaded in the magazine, with different types of rounds. For instance, the gunner can be firing solid, titanium-tipped rounds at a surface target miles away, and with the push of a button switch to shrapnel (canister rounds) to fire on a small boat attacking the ship. These ships are also equipped with an array of missiles, including Stinger anti-aircraft and Griffon anti-ship.

Probably the neatest thing are the drone helicopters. They look like standard copters, with the rotary blades, etc. but are only 18' in length and are, of course, unmanned. They pack a punch though, carrying anti-ship, anti-aircraft, and anti-submarine weapons. And can be fitted for attacks on land (ground) targets, such as smart bombs.

The bridge of these ships were purposely designed to resemble the bridge of the Star Trek USS Enterprise. It is manned by four crew: helm/navigation, weapons officer, radar/communication and...the captain in a captain's chair, just like Captain Kirk sat in.

And, the LCS ships carry attack craft, for landing commandos, (SEAL Teams) on shore, and/or for attacking enemy ships.

China has scrapped plans for air craft carriers #5 and #6, which would have been their only nuclear powered carriers. They said they were nixing plans in February, then said they changed their minds after Trump pulled together that coalition of nations, India, Japan, etc...but now they have announced they are once again, scrapping plans. They will have 4 carriers, two older Soviet-designed ski-jump carriers, and two slightly better, "flat tops" with catapults.

Meanwhile Japan has announced they are close to launching two carriers...true carriers, with US-built F-35's. They will be Japan's first aircraft carriers in 75 years. They do have two helicopter carriers.

The Chicoms are getting their butts kicked in the arms' race and will, no doubt, pursue a different strategy, one of "let's hope Biden gets elected, and we can again walk all over America!"

Consider every advance in weaponology is due to spying and theft of other countries. They can't come up with an original idea to literally save their lives..

True. They are so far behind us...their mainline fighter is the J-15. It is woefully under-powered...they can only fill the fuel tanks 2/3, and it can barely carry 4,000 lbs of munitions, even then. Our F-18 Supers, for example, can go with a full tank of gas, and still carry 17,000 lbs of munitions.

Japan now has 7 state-of-the-art destroyers, with the Aegis targeting system. China has nothing, not even their best guided-missile cruisers, that can match those.

I think the Chicoms have seen the writing on the wall. Their only hope for redemption is a Biden victory.

We used to laugh that all we needed on our Super Hornets was the ordinance to put on target and a KC10 flying gas station.. go anywhere in the world.. lol

Bubonic plague outbreak in China. The Chicoms have sealed off a village where a death has occurred and the plague has taken root. Chinese troops have blocked all roads into/out of the village. Hazmat and medical teams have entered the village in an attempt to treat those infected, and contain the outbreak.

However, international flights out of the village airport are being allowed....

...okay, just kidding about that. But it is what they did in Wuhan with their China virus mess.

Maybe the Chicoms have learned a valuable lesson, the rest of the world doesn't want any of their home-grown diseases.

The Brits want a piece of the action.

In the spring, 2021, the British carrier the HMS Queen Elizabeth and her combat group will deploy to the Pacific in joint operations with the US-led, anti-Chicom coalition already in force. The Brit carrier is one of two Brit carriers, the second undergoing finishing touches. In the QE battle group will be a 3-submarine screen, one destroyer, 6 frigates, including two of their very latest, the city-class, and an array of support vessels, like a minesweeper and tankers. Later, next summer, an amphibious attack group will deploy to the Pacific, with the HMS Albion providing a battalion of British marines and attack helicopters and boats. And, a support force of frigates.

The Chicoms are gonna look out into the Pacific Ocean one day and see fleets, as in FLEETS!!!, arrayed against them.

The Chicoms won't do a damn thing right now, in hopes that weak-azz Biden gets elected. Then they'll wait and watch the US military deteriorate like it did under obummer/Biden...and then get bold again threatening their neighbors. If they try something now, it will be Boxer II and the Chicoms will get crushed again.

Can anyone confirm that the entire US military was out of ammunition when Trump was elected? He’s repeated that several times.

Back to topic, Xi was a gateway to negotiations with DPRK. That’s been pissed away with a losing tariff battle.

If Trump’s ‘Rocket Man’ could manage to sling a missle this way, he’d do it. His sister definitely would in a hot second.

I have not heard Trump say that. But, if he did then it was definitely one of his off-the-cuff exaggerations meant to make a point. It's like that ESPN reporter saying "Rattay and Edwards have combined for a gazillion yards..." Trump has been, and continues to be, prone to make exaggerated statements. Most people look past his actual words and focus on the meaning. The average college football fan understood that Rattay and Edwards was a potent passing duo, and did not then look at game stats and start adding up, 145 yards + 202 yards + 123 yards...gee! it doesn't add to gazillion, that ESPN reporter lied!!!

What is true is that Trump inherited a wrecked military. I have posted some of that information on this forum.

Xi has not been and will never be a gateway to anything constructive. He's an evil POS commie bastard dictator. Any "negotiations" with him and other commie bastards has to be done with one hand on your gun...At best, by making stupid concessions, you can get some temporary results, sure to melt away just as soon as the commie bastard no longer sees any reason to keep "his word." North Korea is a mere pawn in the much, much bigger game.

As for Rocket Man or his crazy sister hurling missiles anywhere, that would be suicidal as long as Trump is president. Not to mention other countries, like Japan or Australia, not taking too kindly to such a stupid act. How is it that NK came to have nukes in the first place? I'll have to look that up... And, is a lesson on why it is absolutely essential to keep nukes out of the hands of the nuts in Persia!

It’s not an off-the-cuff statement if it’s said repeatedly. Even during a fairly recent Task Force news conference. If you missed it, ask Google, see what you come up with.

The rest of your post distilled: you’re right.

The odds of seeing a nuclear incident somewhere in the world are greater presently than during the Cuba/Soviet crisis.
