    Re: China

People don’t go to China for labor so much anymore. They go to SE Asia. People go to China for their growing market, which pretty much means you have to manufacture in country…and all the rest that goes along with that.

You must have fancier stuff than the stuff that is made in Vietnam, Thaliand, Malaysia, India and Indonesia. That is where labor is cheapest. China is no longer cheapest.

But cheaper labor is not really where China gets its “edge.” It “benefits” from currency manipulation, IP skimming, government subsidization, and lax regulations. Plus from the fact that it is still lifting its population out of poverty, creating a growing domestic consumption base that is the envy of the world.

...not the envy of the whole world, just the elitist segment who thinks freedom is over rated.

Just every corporation that is willing to put its IP at risk for a chance to sell into their market.

    Re: China

Tensions rise along India-China border, especially in the "disputed area." Officials confirmed that 20 Indian soldiers were killed in an ambush by Chicoms units in a mountain pass that links the two countries. Four Chinese soldiers were killed in the encounter. The Indian soldiers were part of a patrol responding to gunfire exchanged between local paramilitary groups (residents of the disputed area who are technically Indian citizens but an ethnic group which would just as soon form an independent nation) and Chicom soldiers who had crossed a river seen as the border in the vicinity. Indian government officials protested the incursion by the Chinese troops saying it was a clear violation of their sovereignty and drew an immediate response from the local militia. Details of the skirmish have not been released, but US military spokesmen say given the terrain it is fairly easy to piece together what happened. The Chicoms claim the gunfight took place on their side of the border and they were just acting in defense, but all the evidence says otherwise. The Indian soldiers were part of the Kashmir Light Infantry Brigade which has been operating in the area. In response, India has mobilized additional forces including sending their elite Mountain Division to the region. India's 50,000-man Mountain Division is considered the finest high altitude/winter weather unit in the world. The entire division has been relocating to the disputed area with new bases being established. Additionally India is deploying their new US-built M777 Mountain Howitzers and a squadron of their best jet fighters, the French-built Rafael jets armed with new US-built missiles. The Rafael jet fighter is the fastest in the world, capable of both high altitude flight/combat and close in support. India has moved 200,000 additional troops into the region.

The "disputed area" is many thousands of square miles in northwest India sharing a long border with China to the north and Pakistan to the southwest. It even reaches a 200-mile border with Afghanistan in the extreme tip of the area. In the wake of the recent fight and death of 20 soldiers Indian Prime Minister Modi addressed a joint session of their parliament and stated India will not be bullied by China. To that end India's recent military movements have given them an offensive capability rather than just a defensive one. Former Commander of North India's Military, General Hooda, and now an advisor, stated this gives India the capability of launching an offensive across the border into China itself.

India has also stepped up its naval patrols in the Indian Ocean deploying 8 frigates and destroyers and 2 submarines saying it will "choke off Chinese commerce" by halting Chinese ships and Chinese-licensed ships...the most critical of which would be the oil tankers.

The usually blustful Chicoms have been surprisingly reserved in their response. President Xi recently threatened to use biological weapons to punish Australia for daring to stand up to the Chicoms over disputes of claims of international waters and some islands, so, this quiet response from Beijing is curious. The Chicoms like to thump their chests like a posturing gorilla but know they are not in the best strategic position. The truth is China is contained with very, very little physical presence outside of their own territory. Could be they realize they have really pissed off India and will now hope to let the matter kind of die away...tensions ease. They cannot afford to get into a serious shooting war with India.

I didn't see this when you posted it. This is good stuff.

With a population that rivals that of China and a growing economic base, India is critical to thwarting China's world domination dreams. We should make sure they have sufficient fossil fuels and access to advanced weaponry to make them a force nobody wants to deal with.

European "wokeness" has killed what was once the power of the western alliance, with Germany expecting us to protect them from the very nation they are enriching. The UK is still surviving, barely.

Of course our idiot President just thinks India is the dialect spoken at the local 7-11. I still can't believe he said that....and that was BEFORE he became the senile moron he is today!

    Re: China

    Joint exercise...

The USS Ronald Reagan super carrier and USS Iwo Jima attack carrier, and their combined task forces rendezvoused with the HMS Queen Elizabeth carrier (Big Lizzy) and her task force, and were joined by a Japanese destroyer and two New Zealand anti-sub frigates for a joint exercise off the east coast of Africa, beginning in the Red Sea and extending into the Arabian Sea. Now the combined fleets are sailing toward the South China Sea...already Beijing is squawking declaring this is a provocative show of force.

There has been no official statements from any of the nations involved, but it is speculated the fleets will pass through the "disputed" waters, just as US carriers and other naval ships have been doing with regularity. Recently a German destroyer and two Russian cruisers drew the ire of the Chicoms for daring to pass through the South China Sea in what the world recognizes as international waters. The Big Lizzy is heading to Tokyo for a port-a-call, which is why the Jap destroyer has been sent to escort the British task force. If the USN follows its regular routine, the Ronald Reagan and Iwo Jima will pass through the South China Sea and then head for port in either The Philippines or Australia. Accompanying the Big Lizzy are two Dutch ships, a frigate and a supply ship, and are expected to make port in Tokyo as well. The destroyer USS The Sullivans is also part of the Big Lizzy's task force, and the squadron of US Marine F-35 fighters will remain on the Big Lizzy until the Brits complete construction and deployment of a squadron destined to be assigned to Big Lizzy.

Once again the Chicoms look out and see multiple nations working together to assure navigation of international waters and the sovereignty of island nations the Chicoms have been harassing and threatening. The commie bastards then squawk and play victim when they have been the bullies and are upset the world is standing up to them.

    Re: China

China is building 120 nuke ICBM launch sites in its western desert region. The Chicoms have only 350 nuke warheads and it is thought they plan to use the silos as a shell game, shifting their limited arsenal around to help prevent a strike from taking them out. Many of their warheads are assigned to their air force and navy, so there can't be many available to deploy to these desert silos. This is happening in the Taklamakan Desert, an area about the same size as Germany. Based on the capability of the Chicom missiles, these launch sites places them within easy range of most of India, and important regions in southern Russia.

Russia has the most nukes with 6,300, the US has 5,600, and France, Great Britain, and India a combined 680 between them.
