Also I hate being right about the radio guys...
“Just a G5 school, shouldn’t expect much, mid 30 win season is great, LB is a great coach, G5 school, G5 school, G5 school, doing great for a G5 school.”
Also expect worse next year and maybe even worse the year after next.
We just need to lower our expectations.
As if expecting LB to win a single game in Biloxi with a senior laden team against other G5 schools is expecting too much.
As if pointing out LB’s record for post season baseball from NWSt to Tech is abysmal at best is being too negative.
Listening to Fox N Company. Fox is the only one that sounds like he’s not on the LaTech payroll. We should be satisfied with being mediocre and being Southern Miss bitch in every sport.
Baseball fans endured the post Gravy slide the culminated in some really bad teams. Sim came along & led us to flashes of success but ultimately failed expectations
- then there’s the Goff era that has everyone thinking regional bids should be the norm.
We knew when we hired Goff he knew how to build a winner based on history. Hiring LB after Goff was a friendship hire not a resume hire. 2 more years of no post season success & we are back to pre-Goff era perhaps just with a nicer stadium. Our AD leaving would be a blessing cuz a new AD will likely make changes.
The level of apathy surrounding Tech athletics seems to be at an all-time high. The majority position has seemed to be that Les Guice has had so much going on keeping Tech academics afloat in general that he can’t focus much on athletics. Hopefully Dr. Guice finds some extra time to devote to reviving our athletics.
That is true, but it seems he is losing ground in this area as well, with Tech slipping out of Tier 1. Hopefully that is temporary, but with the sorry state of Louisiana's finances and politics, he should be full time on this, so he needs a very strong AD to focus on athletics and get it back in line. The one we have now is lacking in many skills, it seems, to get this done.
I was listening to the local radio shows this week, and the overall consensus was since we aren't ULM bad, we should be satisfied. We never win a championship in anything, but we don't finish last either, so we should be proud to be given our participation trophy. After all, we are just a lowly G5 school. Apparently that is the mind set of the people in charge in the front office in Ruston also.
Getting ranked....the ultimate Tech curse
