    Re: 2020-25 C-USA Bowls

I was out of town last week, but I didn't see a discussion about this: https://conferenceusa.com/news/2020/...wl-lineup.aspx
As part of the new bowl cycle, C-USA will annually send teams to the Bahamas Bowl against a Mid-American Conference opponent, and to the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, against a Sun Belt Conference school. The league has participated in all six Bahamas Bowls and has placed a team in the New Orleans Bowl 14 times in its first 18 years.

As previously announced, the league will continue its relationship with the Independence Bowl. C-USA is guaranteed to send a team to the Shreveport, Louisiana-based bowl in 2021 and 2025, while holding a secondary agreement with the bowl in the other years of the cycle.

C-USA will also continue its long-standing relationship with the Hawai’i Bowl. The league is set to participate in the Honolulu-based game in 2020, 2022 and 2024.

The conference’s remaining guaranteed selections in the cycle (either 4 or 5 per season) will include the LendingTree Bowl (Mobile, Alabama) and the following games which are owned and operated by ESPN Events:

    1. Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl (Fort Worth, Texas)
    2. TicketSmarter Birmingham Bowl (Birmingham, Alabama)
    3. Boca Raton Bowl (Boca Raton, Florida)
    4. Camellia Bowl (Montgomery, Alabama)
    5. Cure Bowl (Orlando, Florida)
    6. Fenway Bowl (Boston, Massachusetts)
    7. SERVPRO First Responder Bowl (Dallas, Texas)
    8. Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl (Frisco, Texas)
    9. Gasparilla Bowl (Tampa, Florida)
    10. Myrtle Beach Bowl (Myrtle Beach, South Carolina)
    11. New Mexico Bowl (Albuquerque, New Mexico)

2021 maybe too soon to return to Shreveport.

But 2025 might work out (or as a fill-in before then).

Selfishly, I'm ready for the Dogs to come back to Cowtown.

    Re: 2020-25 C-USA Bowls

I am "impatiently" waiting to see how the bowl season is going to play out this year since all of the FBS conferences are going to play at least some games this Fall, although not all FBS teams are playing (e.g., Old Dominion is not playing this year). There will certainly have to be some changes regarding the number of wins required to be bowl eligible due to teams playing significantly fewer games than usual as part of the regular season (e.g., the MAC only plans to play six games). I think it's possible some bowls will be played later than usual. I know the majority of money coming into bowls is from TV revenue, but it wouldn't be too surprising to me if some of the bowls are a no-go this year due to limitations on crowd size. Of course, crowd sizes are usually pretty small for most of the lower tier bowls. I'm sure there are discussions going on behind closed doors, but I'm really curious how things are going to play out. Assuming Tech doesn't have a meltdown, they should be in a good position for a good bowl this year - but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

The recommendation (not approved yet) is everyone is Bowl Eligible. Hopefully the bowls would still be required to use their conference contacts

So our streak likely remains in tact. Now if we can do it without an asterisk.

This actually makes me nervous, I would hope the requirement be all bowl eligible be taken first then fill with the rest...

I bet the ties are honored before the records come into play. On one hand, that really stinks for G5 teams who probably ought to have had a chance at some better bowls. But even that would have been a mess, because those G5 teams already have their own contracts with those "lower level" bowls.

So I'm not sure that a CUSA team with a winning record was necessarily going to be able to slide into the Outback Bowl or whatever even if they slotted winning records first. Because CUSA owes a team to the Bahamas Bowl, etc.

I do imagine that the conferences will do what they can to get teams with winning records in their contracted bowls first (not that there tends to be much demand for any G5 over another unless the bowl is literally in their own stadium).
