Trump apologists like to take Fauci’s comments from Feb 29 out of context. Here is what he said:
Morning interview on NBC.
Alexander: "So, Dr. Fauci, it’s Saturday morning in America. People are waking up right now with real concerns about this. They want to go to malls and movies, maybe the gym as well. Should we be changing our habits and, if so, how?"
Fauci: "No. Right now, at this moment, there’s no need to change anything that you’re doing on a day by day basis. Right now the risk is still low, but this could change. I’ve said that many times even on this program. You’ve got to watch out because although the risk is low now, you don’t need to change anything you’re doing. When you start to see community spread, this could change and force you to become much more attentive to doing things that would protect you from spread."
Welker: "Dr. Fauci, quickly, how does this all end?"
Fauci: "You know, it ends if you -- it depends on the nature of the outbreak. I mean, this could be a major outbreak. I hope not. Or it could be something that’s reasonably well controlled. At the end of the day, this will ultimately go down. Hopefully we could protect the American public from any serious degree of morbidity or mortality. That’s the reason why we’ve got to do the things that we have in our plan."
Afternoon Trump press conference.
"The country as a whole, because we get asked that all the time, still remains at low risk. But when we say that, we want to underscore that this is an evolving situation, and in real time we will keep you apprised of what is going on, just the same way as we are doing it today."
Sorry, Goosey, your touting Fauci does nothing for his credibility...given where yours is.
Personally, I am really neutral on him. I have reservations (quite a few) but understand the nature of a novel virus that medical science is trying to get a good read on. And because of how rapidly such new viruses mutate early in their existence. I don't like his connections to Gilead in such a capacity that he then poo-poohs competitive pharmas' remedies. That screams CONFLICT OF INTEREST! I don't care if he has a financial rooting interest in certain patents, that's his personal business. But, I do care when he, or anyone, is then in a position to make/influence public policy that directly relates to said personal financial interests.
Also, he and others (not just him) have been proven to be dead wrong in their predictions. It's just like all the man-made GW morons out there who point to the results of a computer model and yell "the sky is falling." And then, when it doesn't, just go on like nothing happened and make more stupid predictions. If Fauci is going to cause all this economic chaos because "he knows best" and he turns out to be wrong, he'll just skate away, back to his $million patent factory, and be just fine. Meanwhile millions of Americans would have had their lives wrecked. He should be sued for all the economic loss he, and others, have caused. Yes, I say hire some scumbag attorneys and seek retribution for economic loss.
That is IF he is proven wrong...which it's looking more and more likely.
And I don’t think Fauci is perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but the guy is way more trustworthy than Trump and his band of idiots Trump has appointed to lead HHS and CDC.
"Sleepy Joe", "Creepy Joe" has given President Trump a nickname.. He is now "President Tweety". Good try.. but the left has to work on its game.. here's another funny meme.
He called them “Canadian” geese in yesterday’s cluster interview. It’s a pretty common mistake, but a pet peeve of mine.
WOW.. watch this video.. Not sure if this should have been in 2020 election thread or Biden gaffes.. But watch, you can see Stacy's reaction when she realizes what did NOT happen. Maybe it was supposed to happen and Joe just forgot??
