State Rep. Barbara Norton - Disqualified for not filing tax return

For those of you in the Shreveport area:

According to The Advocate: Norton was disqualified from her house race for not filing a tax return. Also, Nola.com posted this story yesterday before 5 p.m. Yet, as best I can tell, the Shreveport Times still hasn't posted a story on it - 14 hours later.

Re: State Rep. Barbara Norton - Disqualified for not filing tax return

Norton's disqualification was amply covered in the Shreveport media, in fact it dominated local coverage for the day of the hearing. The article is a bit misleading as the first section is devoted to those disqualified for failure to file taxes and then the other disqualifications were thrown in without clarification. Norton was disqualified for not being able to prove residence in the district. Senator Greg Tarver, the incumbent, managed to eliminate both challengers to his seat by proving they were not legal residents of the district. The other challenger Shante Wells withdrew without a court hearing. Although she said she would appeal, Norton did not, you can find follow-up articles that discuss her not appealing. (Added the link to the Times coverage.)

Pretty stupid to lie or deceitfully wedge your way into a political race.
