Pretty light on even remotely even match-ups (not that some week 1 upsets won't happen - particularly hoping for one in Austin).

Just 2 G-5 vs G-5 games. Looks like everyone else is either warming up (I'm a little nervous about WKU against UCA) or taking on a top 15 team (I guess the Kansas/Rutgers/Wake Forest/Oregon States of the P5 world were all busy).

Yeah especially Wake Forest, they are still tired from winning three bowls games the last three seasons. They have a tough one Friday night though in Utah State.

Kansas is going to end up pretty good if they keep up what they’re doing. Pooka Williams is awesome and Les is recruiting the south very well.

To the causal college football fan there isn't much difference between Kansas, Rutgers and Wake. Only a football junkie would know Clawson is actually doing a good job there. You do get a cookie for correctly pointing out they aren't doing as well as Ohio State, Michigan, or Texas.

New season...same ole same ole...CUSA sucks! We're battling the MAC for the very bottom slot. I have confidence in CUSA, we can do this. We can be the very worst FBS conference! Yes sir!

Western Kentucky lost to Central Arkansas.

FIU got routed by Tulane.

UAB almost lost to Alabama State.

On the bright side, FAU is playing Ohio State.

I began watching the UAB game as the 4th quarter began. They looked terrible. Really awful. Alabama State had a chance to take the lead with a few minutes left. They got to UAB's one-yard line but - for some crazy reason - got into shot gun on both 3rd and 4th down and were stopped cold.

Alabama State was picked 4th out of 5 teams in their division of the SWAC.

FIU was equally as bad as UAB. Their line play was awful. UTEP type bad.

Texas A&M could have named their score against Texas State. At one point Texas State had a 225 pound defensive tackle in the game. It really did look like a scrimmage of 1st teamers against 3rd teamers. Kellen Mond play through the 3rd quarter. The announcers described it as Jimbo trying to work out issues involving the Aggies' young offensive line.

FIU is overly hyped. They got 9 first place votes by the media in the preseason poll.
