Tech 34-31
Louisiana Tech University
Flagship of the University of Louisiana System
28-24 Dawgs win in Austin. It should really be 28-17 but you have to give the Horns one TD with it being a home game and well...we know...how it went in Tiger Stadium last year.
By the way, what conference are the refs being sourced from? Or are they just a group of UT Alums?
Just saw a graphic that UT was 5-7 the last time they were preseason top 10. 2010.
I’m feeling optimistic. Texas 38 tech 34.
As much of an optimist as I am, I just can't see us pulling this off. Texas looks to be loaded this year and, unless, J'Mar has improved DRAMATICALLY, I just can't see it. If J'Mar plays out of his mind and the rest of our team plays extremely well, it will be close. Otherwise, it could be a blowout in UT's favor. I have SO MANY UT friends that I just didn't want this game to happen this year. Give us back that high octane offense that played A&M some years back (in a game for the ages) and I would have us walking all over UT. This year, I am nervous about being embarrassed.
Being generous with my doubts: Texas 34 Tech 21
If by some miracle we pull this off, I will promise to predict a loss every game this year (breaking with my optimistic "we can beat anyone" usual predictions).
That's it folks...we have hit rock bottom. Even our resident ultra-optimist, Champ110, is thinking we'll be blown out.
They are just too focused on not screwing the pooch the first game of the season this year (a la Maryland 2x) that in terms of football they are literally going to screw this pooch!
I don't know why everybody thinks Texas is so loaded this year. The Longhorns have to replace 12 starters, including 8 on defense alone. Additionally, the Horns have suspended 3 other players for various reasons, including Sophomore WR Joshua Moore.
Meanwhile, we have a 3-year starting QB at the helm, a potential NFL draft choice at WR (Adrian Hardy), an All-World DB and a fairly deep bench. No, we don't have anybody named "Troy Edwards, Tim Rattay or Terry Bradshaw", BUT --assuming everyone is healthy-- this Bulldog team SHOULD be as solid across the board as any Tech team we've seen in a long time.
If a football player wants to make a lasting impression on fans and alumni, it's OOC games like this that need to be won. Beat the Texas Longhorns, and the LA Tech faithful will likely still be talking about you and your teammates 20 and 30+ years from now, just like we do already when we talk about Luke McCown beating Michigan St and Oklahoma St, or Sean Cangelosi defeating Alabama, etc.... IMO, THESE are the games that LA Tech players can make a lasting impression in that will likely last a lifetime.
For these reasons, I'm predicting an upset:
LA Tech 29
Texas 27
Say it isn’t so Champion! I have never seen you pick against TECH-have you? I can’t imagine us winning, but do believe in miracles. I also watched my husband cheer Maryland on the last two years. I have hope!
Actually...Champ just doesn't want to give the Horns bulletin board material and post what he really thinks!
