We have several coffee shops in town that would most likely be happy to donate a $25-$50 gift card. Students would stay for that. Lots of local clothing stores. We could even just give away a box/basket of Tech swag.
A one in 2,500 chance to win something in the late 4th quarter won't keep a student who normally leaves at half.
Yes of course, but we are stuck with where we are. Big mo will build until USM spanks us again. Making it difficult for the students to tailgate was stupid, but it is also stupid to make it difficult for the fans who actually began tailgating at Tech almost 40 years ago.
The students --and the Band-- made a real difference Saturday night. I was really surprised at how loud they were in the early 4th quarter with the game still on the line. There weren't many, but they were loud. It sounds great when you watch the replay of the game on TV.
You are all doing what Tech should be doing... Thinking to create an improved interest in Tech sports. People are getting paid to market Tech. Do your job whoever you are. Do your job AD!
What about asking our distributors if they would sponsor some kind of competitive giveaway? Like talk to Coke after we drop Pepsi (please God soon). Make it part of the contract that they do a $2500 giveaway at any point during the game. Like throw a football through a target so many times in 30 seconds or something. Prize to be conveyed on the field at the conclusion of the game.
