If you thought the FIU game was more entertaining on the field -- it was. Tech did a much better job maintaining drives on offense. Here are the results.

    First Half
    1st Tech Drive – 3 plays – 5 yards – punt
    2nd Tech Drive – 10 plays – 42 yards – Int
    3rd Tech Drive – 13 Plays – 73 years – FG
    4th Tech Drive – 6 plays – 71 yards – TD
    5th Tech Drive – 4 plays – 22 yards – punt
    6th Tech rive – 6 plays – 28 yards – FG

    Second Half
    1st Tech Drive – 10 plays – 86 yards – TD
    2nd Tech Drive – 8 plays – 75 yards – TD
    3rd Tech Drive – 11 plays – 71 yards – FG
    4th Tech Drive – 12 plays – 64 yards – FG
    5th Tech Drive – 6 plays – 33 yards - FG

Exactly right, I was shocked at how loud they were.

nLULM’s biggest home game in many years versus Memphis on national television (ESPNU) and they look like they have less than 10000 people in the stands!

People really want to play them?

Memphis and ULM would be Vegas favorites against us.

Memphis and ULM would both kill us this year. For that matter, so would ULL and Tulane. We're the worst FBS team in Louisiana this year. Thank goodness our schedule is so weak.

We're just not a good team. We've got a poor scheme on both sides of the ball.

    Like you, I'm just saying....

I agree about Memphis, but not ULM. Sagarin is usually a pretty good indicator of what Vegas thinks. Memphis would be a 10+ pt favorite in Memphis. We'd still be favored in Monroe.

Not so fast, my friend. I would take their running back, QB and a couple of their receivers in a minute.

NLU has a better offense than us. Better skilled players and certainly better play-calling/schemes...i.e. better coaching. I don't know who their QB is...I have watched short segments of a couple of their games and could see in just a few plays he's better than our rock star.

Maybe, but that's what we said about FAU last year as well as Hawaii and SMU.

Re: Declining attendance is the rule, not the exception

Anybody who knows me knows I've advocated our own in-house broadcasting network . . . since the early days of public access cable TV in the 1970s (Tape the games and re-play them that night at 10:30 on local cable channels. Lots of schools did it. However, NOT Louisiana TECH University. The administration was afraid to mess with the local crowd.

Universities then built off that TV production and started doing Pay-Per-View. Not Louisiana TECH University. they were concerned about local attendance.

Conferences who had universities who had pioneered the PPV method of broadcasting expanded their efforts to the sports networks signing contracts exclusive to certain days and certain timeslots...pulling in what massive dollars were available for those prime timeslots.

The smaller conferences with less savvy TV production got left behind and bargained for Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights. And, when the G5s played a P5, the 11 am central time slot was theirs. At times Tech was an exception due to their national following.

Then came streaming for the smaller conferences, but only if they upgraded their TV production quality. Also, 11 am, and early afternoon kickoffs became the norm, all chasing traditionally larger crowds away. It's no lie southern crowds prefer night-time kickoffs until November arrives.

Isn't it about time we started our own PPV, or local network and streaming, and gave the streaming password to potential recruits so they can watch too. Oh, and return local kickoffs back to 6 or 7 pm?

Scattered thoughts while our top athletics staff was off to their annual national conference seeking answers from others.

If we have zero representation on the C-USA TV panel who represents our interests?

I'm sure someone who knows will put me in my place.

I don’t know what else a school could do to get butts in the stadium. The big twelve candidate down here pulled out all the stops and still had a disappointing turnout.

$7 ticket to get in the game, free parking, cheap food concessions and cheap BOOZE still didn’t do the trick. Smh.

I forgot there was a game being played in Lafayette last night. What was the announced attendance for the game? I know they were expecting a really good crowd, especially since it was a rematch of last year's Sun Belt Conference Championship game.
