Our up tempo offense is like a speed talker with a life threatening case of the hiccups.

Honestly it doesn't bother me that's what he said. It's a politics game.
What bothers me is that what we do instead does not work.
It works to win slightly more than you lose and that’s all he is worried about. He and our AD both view us as “mid major”. From a coaches view point that is a problem because he doesn’t see a point of trying to win against “higher caliber” teams, and he thinks winning record and a bowl is enough, no need to attempt to climb higher. It causes more than that, that is just an example.
From the AD’s point of view it causes a ton of problems as well, but here it just doesn’t affect one sport, but all. There is the added bonus of his basic stance of FU to a large portion on the fan base..... at this point I should say alumni base because he has destroyed any potential for luring in the casual fan.
Another way to say this is: Tech should know its place as a mid-major. It's foolish to think a G5 school can make the jump to a P5 level. As we saw last year against LSU and this time at UT, Holtz when we are behind, he will take the restraints off and let the offense play. Problem is that in both cases, we dug ourselves in such a hole, that there was really no risk to Holtz to open up play, because we are not "supposed" to win.
If the fans have higher expectations, then there is more pressure/risk on Holtz and TMac to deliver/perform. If you embrace mediocrity and limit expectations, then there is no pressure to deliver and you can continue to ride the gravy train until you are ready to move on based upon your terms not Tech's.
I honestly think skip would stay the head coach at squire creek.... um I mean Louisiana Tech until he is done for good. Now TMac on the other hand fancies himself the big dog on at P5 with deeper pockets, and I say good bye and good luck
DogsWin and I talked about this last night. Who would actually hire him as an AD? Seriously given all of the applicants and people with experience out there, I can't think of any P5 school that would hire him as an AD. Maybe his goal is to get an Assistant AD position??
What are the other "mid majors" paying ADs?
What is Grambling paying their AD? McNeese? Northwestern? ULM?
I agree he would have to probably take an assistant AD position, but there are a lot of P5 schools that might take a flyer on a younger guy with “experience” on their resume.
The top 5 or 6 teams in the SEC, ACC, Big Ten wouldn’t touch him, but an Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Iowa State, Boston College types might. Money is money and the bottom of the P5 have truck loads more than we do, and if they make a mistake they would just move on.
Its honestly confusing. Once Grambling scored, Holtz should have at least turned the passing game back on and scored again. But he didn’t. He likes to play outlast for some reason. And thats just an unnecessary stress to put on your defense when you could easily have been up 30-40 points.
NSU plays (gets slaughtered by) LSU this week. Natchitoches/NSU hosted LSU "folks" an assistant AD, SID, and other "dignitaries" to celebrate Game Week. They even had signs posted "Go Tigers! Fork 'em Demons!" Typical small-minded Louisiana Southland Conference position: bow down at the altar of almighty LSU. Shameful. Hosting LSU folks??? A gala evening? (at the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame)
Unfortunately, that is the exact mind-set of TMAC, and by extension, everything else at Tech. That's one positive thing I will say about our Cajun friends at ULL, they don't kowtow to LSU like ULM and every other Louisiana school does.
