Good points! Holtz admitted in post game he didn't coach well during the game and didn't help his players. It was great they found a way to win when things were going south.

And there is the crux of the problem. Skippy has to say that after nearly every game. Yet he NEVER learns, except before bowl games.

4-1 yay! over powerhouse Grambling, Bowling Green, FIU, and Rice.

All games we were supposed to win. Grambling is the worst of them, though. Overall improved since then, but we made mistakes and bad decisions tonight. FIU and BG couldve/shouldve been bigger wins.

I don’t know if any CUSA team had played Rice’s schedule, they would be any better than 1-3. That may be generous. I can’t hold their record against them, they’d played 4 tough games. If they’d scheduled a cupcake instead of one of the teams they played, I’d say they would have a decent shot at 6-6 in this conference.

Rice should have won this game. At the half they should have gotten a TD or FG. Rice was the team that owned this game. I think it was their FUBAR at half that allowed the worse prepared team to win. No way I think Tech should have won this. I am very happy that we won but we were fortunate.

I sorta wish Jamar would call his own plays. The more I think about it the more I believe that Holts has ruined him.

Totally agree. Holtz took credit for J'Mar running that last play for the win. No way. That was J'Mar's decision and I think he was just not going to be denied. Also, when J'Mar audibled in the Q1 is when he hit Adrian Hardy for a TD.

Holtz can organize and stablize a program but he has no business calling plays. The game moves too fast for him.

Holtz did what he does most often, allow the other team to do enough wrong not to win. He coaches football like WW1 trench warfare, keep your head down until the smoke clears then sneak away as a survivor.

This much I know: I like being 4 and 1 instead of 3 and 2. Barring a total collapse (which is still within the realm of possibility), we'll go bowling again. Yippie!!! Of course I'm hoping for a lot more, but it's baby steps for now.

Everyone will agree being 4-1 is great, but the coaching and play should be improving with each year you have a coach, QB , etc... in your program and it isn’t. The most dangerous Holtz teams were ones with some of Dykes players and transfers. What talent he has brought in under his watch is severely hamstrung by Holtz himself or members of his help a friend into retirement club staff.

Agreed. Things changed badly for Rice when Tech got the INT in the end zone just before half time. If that INT isn't made by Tech, Rice comes away with 7 points, or at worst, 3 points. That play changed everything.

“Fun to watch” does not exemplify what the four victories have been this year genius. The only miracle bigger than this team being 4-1 is that they are not 1-4. There are many other seasons since the move to D1 that were fun to watch.

Wait a minute, Coach Holtz? Is this you? Can you make this 11-1 run a little more enjoyable to watch?
