SMU is a typical Dykes team... no deficit is too large to overcome, because of their high-octane offense, and no lead is ever safe for them because of their lousy defense. Dykes' O's are always so well-coached, each player, including the OL know the intricacies of every play. The O is always on the same page, like they have ESP and communicate with each other mentally. By contrast, the collective IQ of the defense wouldn't reach three figures and they look like the Keystone Cops out there.

But, they are a fun team to watch on TV!

Would’ve been good if ECU had held on. I still think it would’ve been better for us if SMU won last night, but that ship has sailed. Need Cincy, MEMPHIS, and SMU to lose in the next few weeks.

SMU lost to Memphis. Neither teams could play defense.
This SMU team is not even close to that 2012 Tech team that Dykes had.

As others have said, they don’t have a QB. Bueche is not that good. Serviceable but slow.

App State wins over South Carolina 20-15. They deserve the NY6 if they win out. They beat ACC and SEC. Still more to be played but that is an impressive resume.

That's because the G5 entry into the NY6 will come from the AAC or MWC with Appy State as an outsider Darkhorse thanks to their two P5 wins. No CUSA or MAC team is, or ever has been, under consideration.
