Last Time LA Tech Won 8 Games in a Row?

On Saturday, Nov 9th, LA Tech will host UNT for Homecoming in Joe Aillet Stadium. This game will be an opportunity for the Dogs to elevate their season won-loss record to 8-1, and also win an 8th consecutive football game for the first time in 20 yrs.

Tech's 2012 team was 9-1 at one time (finished 9-3), but did not win 8 consecutive games. The 2011 Tech team won 7 games in a row --and a WAC Championship-- before losing to TCU in the Poinsettia Bowl.

The last time LA Tech won 8 consecutive football games was in 1999. The streak included wins over Alabama, UCF, ULL and future conference mates, MTSU & UAB. Prior to that, you have to go back to the 1970's to find an 8-game winning streak in Tech football. Jack Bicknell's Dog's cracked the Top 25 in 1999, but subsequently lost to USC in the last regular season game of the year. The Dogs did not receive a bowl bid in 1999.

    1999 Season:

    August 28 at Florida State* L 7–41 72,702
    September 4 Texas A&M* L 17–37 40,328
    September 11 Sam Houston State* W 55–17 16,621
    September 18 at Alabama* W 29–28 80,312
    October 2 at Louisiana–Lafayette* W 41–31 19,724
    October 16 Middle Tennessee State*
    • Joe Aillet Stadium
    • Ruston, Louisiana
    W 42–18 17,324
    October 23 at UCF* W 46–35 16,535
    October 30 at Toledo* W 34–17 17,904
    November 6 Louisiana–Monroe*
    • Joe Aillet Stadium
    • Ruston, Louisiana
    W 58–17 27,360
    November 13 at UAB*
    • Legion Field
    • Birmingham, Alabama
    W 41–20 18,672
    November 26 at USC* No. 25 L 19–45 45,070

2019 could turn out to be a very special football season. Everyone needs to spread the word and PACK Joe Aillet Stadium on NOV 9th!!

That's gonna be tough to do since I believe the game is at the exact time as the lsu/Alabama game. Like it or not, that's gonna hold down attendance quite a bit.

Anyone missing for that reason isn’t a Tech fan and not “Forever Loyal Be”.

Well, it is LA Tech's HOMECOMING. I thought I was appealing to LA Tech fans, not LSU fans.

That's the last time LSU beat Alabama. Why would any "Louisiana State" fan think it's going to happen this year?

    - If you want to talk about a peer institution having a "Daddy", then LSU's "Daddy" is unquestionably, Alabama.

    - LA Tech fans were in "panic" mode because Tech had lost 4 consecutive games to USM going into last weeks matchup. But LSU has lost 8 straight games to Bama, and 10 of the last 12 to BAMA.

    - Last year it wasn't real close, with Alabama dominating LSU 29-0.

    - Since Bear Bryant's retirement in 1982, Alabama leads the series 23–14–1.

    - Alabama is 28–9–2 against LSU in Baton Rouge

    - All-Time, Alabama leads the series, 53–25–5

Frankly, if you're an LSU fan, I don't see what you have to get excited about. The handwriting is already on the wall.

Bama is LSU's daddy. Actually, they are everyone's daddy...except a certain team on a 2-game win streak against them, 3-game, if you include the previous vacated win.

Just like we obsess with beating USM, due to the historical record, so too does tigger nation obsess with finally beating Bama. If Tua is still out, who knows, maybe it happens this year. Maybe.

What time is that game, same, or close to ours?

It starts earlier, 2:30 PM on November 9th. Everyone has 30 minutes to see how that game will go before leaving tailgate :P
