    La Tech vs La State

Well.....how did it go today at the TAC? Don't everybody bother to jump in at the same time trying to tell us what happened in today's scrimmage vs La State. But did we win? Lose? Tie?

From the lack of updates, I guess we have to presume it didn't go well?

First half went well. Second half we took the lead... and immediately were playing from behind because Days rattled off like 3-4 straight 3’s.
    * Some players need to work on free throws (we know that...)
    * Crawford seemed like a liability on
    offense all game.
    * 33 has some promise, he’s very large. Forced a turnover.
    * I don’t know the names just yet, but Im a fan of our new guys with longer hair (one red and one yellow). One hit a few 3s in the first half but it didn’t seem like he got to shoot much in the second half.

    83-70 final

    Thanks for the update.

So "Days" is an LSU player?

Sounds like it was a good productive outing for us. I mean, sure we wanted to win, but this was an EXHIBITION game, and our team has a klot of new faces that are still trying to jell. Frankly, 83-70 is not that bad.

We had some ups and downs, but overall, the new players look like they will be good. Armistead can shoot. Ladoux played a lot and seems to be someone he plans to play-he left him in after a lot of missed shots and it paid off late in the game. The crowd was good and it was a fun game to watch.

With no other information than the score, 83-70 is a lot better than I would have expected against a mid-major like lsu.

I’m not a basketball authority by any stretch, but here is what this average fan saw.

No. 10 Armstead, JUCO transfer, got a hot hand in the first half, and he seemed to always show up around the ball at the right time. Reminded me of Honey Badger. Look forward to seeing more of him. Fun to watch.

Mohammed was steady all game. Gonna be solid again this year.

No. 33 Gordon, a transfer Junior, is a big 6’10” but looks pretty athletic and has decent touch on the ball. Got a nice shot block on Emmit Williams, which does not happen often.

No. 5 Kalob Ledoux, transfer from McNeese, came on in the second half. LSU defense clamped down after Tech took the lead briefly in early second half. This kid was the only one who seemed to be able to score once that happened.

Derric Jean had a couple of sweet drives to the basket.

LOTS of missed free throws by both sides. LSU had decent percentage of made three pointers. Tech did not. Can’t recall details, but heard the stats on the radio driving home.

21 Exavian Christon warmed up pregame but never entered the game. I was really wanting to see him after he was out injured most of last year. Not sure why he did not play. I thought I heard Konkol say on the radio this week that he is healthy and ready to go.

From 21’s bio for last season: “Played and started in the first seven games of the season before missing the last 26 games due to a medical injury ... Was leading the team in scoring average (12.0), three-point field goal percentage (41 percent) and free throw percentage (81 percent) at the time of the injury.”

Tech has some talented players. They got beat by a top 25 team, but they put together some good runs and even led briefly. They need to work on those darned free throws. And when a teammate gets a steal or rebound and breaks for the other end, they need to haul ass down there and help him out.
