He did it while we were independent as well, which makes it more impressive to me because there was no way to earn any superlatives of any kind other than national.

Don't forget we are all typing these messages on a message board titled, The Blond Bomber Board.

He was pretty good, number one overall draft pick. Four Super Bowl titles. Two Super Bowl MVP's. NFL MVP. Multiple Pro Bowls and All-Pro seasons. Louisiana Tech, College Football and Pro Football Hall of Fames.

In speaking of greatness at Tech the line starts behind Bradshaw for QB's. End of discussion.

This might be a tougher question had he not been suspended and we were conference champs with one loss. Wouldn't have hopped Memphis, so probably still playing in Shreveport (just my guess).

So far he has played in 43 games most of those as the starter. The I-Bowl will be 44.

He has almost 9,400 yards right now 50 TD's and only 19 INT's.

    Rattay played 33 games. He finished with 12,746 yards, 115 TD's, 35 INT's

McCown as best I could find played in 44 games so comparable to Smith, but he had 12,994 yards, 88 TD's but 60 INT's

Even a couple of the more recent QB's

    Sokol played 13 games 3,190 yards 29 TD's and 13 INT's.

    Driskel played 13 games 4,033 yards 27 TD's and 8 INT's

    Higgins played 22 games 6,332 yards 47 TD's and 21 INT's.
What about Cameron? He had a very long string of passes without an interception.

Exactly what I was thinking. Rattay was really special. He did all of that in 3 years, whereas McCown had four.

In my opinion statistics are all a culmination of a Team effort. All of Tech’s accomplished QBs did it with quality help from their teammates.

Where the Team doesn’t come into play is in regard to an certain player’s character.

I think JMar is ultimately going to be remembered as the QB who was in a leadership role when Tech’s ‘POTENTIALLY GREAT’ 2019 season went up in smoke. He won’t ever have a statistic impactful enough to change that.

The coaches think he was the offensive mvp for CUSA this season and I ain't gonna disagree.

Fine was on his way to the MVP until the Tech game. He never seemed to recover from that drubbing. Abraham showed signs of being very good until Tech. I would say the defense, especially thru the USM game, had a huge part of any success achieved (said Captain Obvious). The QB always looks good when we win, but the defense is why we win.

Also, the tight end for FAU won MVP of the league, but Smith won the Offensive Player of the Year....how can that be?

Yep, and the sad thing for him is, if he had any chance of making a NFL roster, that’s probably going to make it that much harder. On the bright side, he’ll have lots of free time for recreational activities after Shreveport.

    Probably -

I think the die had been cast since last week of Oct that we would be in Shreveport

If JMar can help beat Miami I think he will be remembered favorably. Tech got the only P5 game for CUSA Bowls. This is a big deal and odds are not in our favor. It will require an exemplary game from Tech to win this. Still and at whatever we think the conference sent Tech to take on this task.

Just food for thought but how about a policy for suspending a player for one game for the initial suspension. Then if continued repeated offenses you increase the # of games.
