AMEN! I do understand that most P5's are scheduled so far in advance that it is a guessing game, but we always seem to get the strongest version of them. We SHOULD have beaten Arkansas the last time we played them, though.Originally Posted by HogDawg
Who has Tech beaten that compares to those two wins?I don't agree. As far as I'm concerned, GA Southern (5-4) was a season killing bad loss for them. And it didn't come in Week 1, 2 or 3 of a season. It was only a couple of weeks ago.
Okay, so Appy beat a bad North Carolina (4-5) team, and an even worse South Carolina (3-6) team. Big whoop. Are you kidding me? Both of those teams suck. Both are very beatable P5's this year. USC is almost guaranteed to finish this season with a 3-8 record. USC fans just want the season to be over. And if North Carolina gets to 6 wins this season, its only because they play the mighty Mercer Bears (4-6) on Nov 23rd. That's right, MERCER! Somebody that I didn't even know had a football team.
If you want to congratulate somebody at Appy St, congratulate their AD. He certainly hit a home run by scheduling all these losers in 2019.

One of our problems is having them as the first or second game of the season, let's get some P5 games in late October and November when the team is really starting to come together.
Sagarin has Tech at #74 and USL at #46. CUSA sucks so bad right now we have teams with 3 wins ranked higher than us. Excluding Grambling, we have beaten one team with a winning record.

Southern Miss could certainly beat UNC and/or USC. Probably pretty badly. But no matter who I say, you'll just disagree to be argumentative. Regardless, we don't have the "bad loss", late in the season, like Appy does.
I know. So why haven't we been back, and played 'em again? Are we afraid that we might actually win?
For goodness sake, we found room on the schedule for LSU & Texas. Why not a school that we can actually compete with?
But, since the Texas game, we've beaten everybody they put in front of us.
EVENTUALLY, people catch on, and the wins will pay off. I know I'm enjoying this season MUCH BETTER than if we had a 5-4 record, and were wondering what went wrong last weekend.
Anybody that thinks UL is that good is a fool, plain and simple. ESPECIALLY if his name is Jeff Sagarin, because he gets paid to know better.

Teams not named Rice (0-9), UTEP (1(Houston Baptist)-8), UMass (1-9), and Bowling Green (3-6).
Geez, also above us are FCS' North Dakota State at 39 and James Madison at 67.
Southern Miss lost by 23 to MS State, who is comparable to UNC and USCe. So I don’t think USM is as good of a win as UNC and USCe.
By comparison, ULL lost by 10 to MS State and App St by 10.
This is the first year in 7 that the schedule is set up the way Hotlz likes it.
- Our opening conference game was a home conference game for the first time in 7 years
- We actually got the use of 7 days between both of our open dates this year.
- Only one money game and it was not played late in the year like some of our money games in the past have been.
Holtz has mentioned all of the above at some point and some more than once.
And Sagarin factors in margin of victory, as do other computer rankings. None are friendly to teams like Tech or Marshall or San Diego State, all of whom tend to want to grind it out, protect the football, and just win the game.
The Cajuns have played one team this year that had any semblance of a defense - App State - and their offense put up 7 points.
The Belch is 4-8 vs P5s this season.
