Lower-Tier Power Five Bowls - La Tech vs SMU?

    Lower-Tier Power Five Bowls

First Responder Bowl (Dec. 30): Louisiana Tech vs. SMU (link)

I like seeing our name when the Power 5 is discussed, but we deserve a better bowl if we win out. I'd also like for us to play another Power 5 team and beat them like the last time we played in this bowl against Illinois. SMU is good and has been getting a lot of attention, but they won't be another P5 notch under the belt.

Brett McMurphy has been saying Tech vs. Tulane in the Gasparilla Bowl (Tampa). I would actually like that because I'll be in Florida for Christmas.

I've also seen us playing UCF in Tampa. If we are playing a P5, I want to play an AAC Team.

I hope "AAC" was a typo.

I thought “are” was possibly a mistake, and “aren’t” was intended.

I'm glad because the AAC rides a high horse and always talks about how the whole conference should be P5.

    Oh hell NO!

First Responder Bowl (Dec. 30): Louisiana Tech vs. SMU^

^SMU takes a spot the Big 12 is unable to fill.

"While the First Responder Bowl is usually held at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, the 2019 edition will be played at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in University Park, Texas, due to a scheduling conflict with the 2020 NHL Winter Classic at the Cotton Bowl."

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerald_J._Ford_Stadium#/media/File:Gerald_J_Ford_Stadium.jpg

This is literally a home game for SMU should this prognostication comes to fruition.

Home game means nothing for bowling Bulldogs!

Seeing how we are undefeated in bowl games, I'd take Alabama in Tuscaloosa or Ohio State in Columbus if those were possible bowl games.

    Too far?

I’d love to play South Carolina.

We played them in 2017 and choked, letting them score 17 points in the 4th quarter to lose by one.

That SC team was similar to this one. You will usually have a chance against a Will Muschamp team if you can play any defense because his offenses just about always suck.

Actually, now that I’m looking back at their results that year, that 2017 team was probably a little better than this years team.

SC may seem similar, but La Tech is not. This team is far better than that team. Tech was 6-6 going into that bowl game.

We gave away three wins that year - USM, UAB, and UNT.

Every break went bad that year. I'm glad it's history!
