That is awesome athletic ability that they didn't show coming out of high school or we wouldn't have got them.
Smith is a 5th year senior who is 23 years old. You think it took 5 years to get him this strong?

Henderson is in his 2nd year here and is 23 years old. You think our S&C coach got him this strong in 2 years?

I know many of our fans think our S&C coach is great. They were quiet in years when our players were dropping like flies in the last 4 games. If he was a great S&C guy he'd have been hired away long ago.

I think Hester is somewhere between S&C god and average college S&C guy. I don’t care who taught him or how he learned it, but watching Henderson hurdle a guy on one play and then completely truck somebody later was awesome!

Do you think a coach can improve over time just as much as a player can? I'm not sure if that is the case in this instance, but I do believe a coach can improve.

I could train for 2 years and see very little improvement, but with the proper training, I could see marked improvement in 6 months. Hell, if I didn't workout at all and started today, I'd be a totally different person in 6 months with proper training.

I think I prefer us going into a game this big on the road as the “underdog”. That should motivate us more. Enjoy the opportunity to prove the doubters wrong.

Play and coach with a little bit of a chip on our shoulder, so to speak.

We've played well at home, but I still think Holtz teams play better on the road. Win this one and it's all down hill from here.

Yeah I just don’t know about their defense.

I feel we should be able to contain their offense well enough to win.

I hate playing teams twice. If we win, I hope we end up hosting FAU for the CG.

Marshall is pretty good, and they had a bye week to get ready, while we have only a short week and a long plane ride. If we come out on top I think there should be nothing but praise coming from us for our team and coaches.

.....yeah, about that.........IMO the UNT game ended up being almost another bye week for our athletes. I really don't think any of our guys over-worked themselves against UNT. We couldn't have asked for an easier game before a "short week" than what UNT gave us last week.

As for the "long plane ride".....I really don't understand why everybody worries about that. First it's not a long flight (2 to 2.5 hours?), and it's only one (1) time zone away. Piece of cake, really. Especially for a bunch of 18-20 yr olds. Heck, back in our WAC days, our guys were taking 3 and 4 hour one-way flights across 2 time zones 3 or 4 times per year. And when they flew to Hawaii, it was 7 hours one-way, with a 5 hour time change.

Agreed. We looked pretty fresh, Holtz even did a full substitution in the 4th qtr. The travel isn't bad flying charter. These kids get bused to Monroe, pick up their Gatorade and snacks, board the plane, and listen some tunes for 2 hrs or so till they land.

    Re: Marshall favored

I imagine Marshall is going to attempt to out-physical us and make the game ugly (in terms of rhythm). The problem with this approach is that we have a fairly balanced and mature offensive team with a physically aggressive defense. Our opponents have a smaller margin for error. If they start taking risks, they will struggle to execute. I don't see us taking risks as much as setting teams up for what we're going to do next. J'mar hasn't been flawless, and he doesn't have to be, but he's been extremely competent. This defense senses weakness and pounce upon the first sight of blood. It will take a flawless performance by their QB to beat us. That could happen, but I doubt it will.

That hurdle was amazing. Watched the replay just to see it again. Posterized that NT player. Hype video material. His runs in the middle were punishing knocking defenders back.

Someone on the radio said it looked like we were playing a high school team at one point.
