If all hell breaks loose in the AAC, MWC and Sun Belt, it's also possible Louisiana Tech sneaks into the tail end of the CFP Top 25 and goes to the Cotton Bowl. The Bulldogs have not lost since the season opener at Texas, and they have averaged 52.0 points over their last four contests. If they can keep it rolling for four more games and end up being the only one-loss Group of Five champion, Skip Holtz and Co. could make history for Conference USA.

In my opinion, we should be listed above every G5 except Cincinnati. The fact that they think we need to "sneak" by the Sunbelt to be in the top 25 is a slap in the face. Only SMU and UCF have scored more points a game (slightly) than Tech, and only Navy and UCF have a larger scoring margin, but none of them are undefeated against the G5 except Cincinnati and Tech. Cincinnati and Tech lost to top 25 teams in the P5, so it's not like either of us were slacking.

If beating a P5 team is all this team ever has to do to get recognition, then we need to schedule Rutgers, Maryland, Georgia Tech, Vandy, and the plethora of terrible P5 teams. There's no reason to play the likes of Texas and LSU when a terrible team like Arkansas or UNC will get the same results.

Scheduling is done so far in advance that you can't really count on a P5 team being bad by the time you play them. With our luck we schedule a lower P5 and when we play them they're a top 25 if not top 10 team.

That has happened several times, but there are some consistent bottom dwellers in the P5. We need to work on scheduling them and rolling the dice.

Well you know who the usual top 20 teams are, and you know who isn’t. Kansas, Illinois, most of the time Indiana, Iowa State, Vanderbilt, Rutgers, Maryland, Purdue, Colorado, NC and NC State, Duke and GT are all normally lower tiered P5’s. Arkansas and Ole Miss should be winnable games in the future too that are driving distance.
