Ah yes! the good ole dispute of the WE SHOULD BE GLAD WE AIN'T UTEP vs. IS IT ASKING TOO MUCH FOR HOLTZ TO ACCOMPLISH A LITTLE MORE crowds.

Full disclosure: I belong to the latter group.

I think a win over UAB will temporarily placate most of "us." A loss...whoa! Put on your helmets and flak jackets.

Fans will never be satisfied outside of any place except maybe Bama or Clemson (recently). It's not meant to make you happy; it should just be entertainment on a Fall Saturday (sometimes weekdays). Even if you win a National Championship, that becomes next year's expectation (and how often do teams repeat?). It's very temporary happiness even if you hit the mountaintop. So even "a little more" will not be enough to make us happy. (I do think we would be more frustrated if we were UTEP though.... ).

If I viewed it as entertainment, I won't drive 500 round trip to watch us play. I have been invested in our program and consider myself a part owner (a very small part). If we were in the UTEP rut, I certainly won't be a part-owner and probably won't be a fan.

I agree. But PD is doing his best to inform the sparsely populated N. La, and many of it's casual bandwagon fans, how terrible Tech's President, ADM, AD, HC, attendance in low numbers N.La and student recruitment (yes that's been a topic) in his opinion. It's non-stop on this board every single day and night. I'm not even sure if he's met any of these in person more then handshake and actually chatted. Who knows.

But my gosh.....we all want Tech athletics, entertainment value and academics to succeed and we all know our downfalls or shortcomings. There are many better and productive ways to effectively change things we can at TECH vs. the constant bitching, slandering, moaning and taking potshots on a PC at the actual people and personalities in charge .

Really, the one thing I'm PO'd at our staff is the lack of backup QB's on our team. And that goes back to Skip's previous coaching staff not here now as well.
    Wow. Another shot at Rattay.

Holtz knew his QB had an issue with weed because Smith had already been popped at least once. What did Holtz do about it? Did he discipline Smith, did he begin preparing another QB? Hell no, he stuck his head in the sand because he's lazy and coasting to retirement.

THis shit didn't happen last year, it is happening this year and Rattay is not here. This whole fiasco is on Holtz because he let it drag on.

Nobody didn't say it wasn't our QB's fault; especially me. And I didn't name Ratty in my post above. And how do you even know this wasn't happening last year and the year before that and the year before that one. You really think it was his first for a 2 game suspension? You and we don't know. They might have handled it different or kept it quiet if it did back then. Again you and we don't know. So many circumstances could have played out and I'm actually tired of discussing these since you and I and most on here don't know smit. But I do know that we as fans are all pissed off at the entire situation, not-to-mention Skip the staff and the players; no matter how, when, where, or how often it happened and who suspended them for how long.

It is not as it was never intended to be all inclusive. The first part (UTEP) was simply meant to represent those who are the "glass is half full" crowd. Of course being a prima donna I guess you need to have your exact position on the curve stated. That's not my job or concern.

Everyone else understands I was not attempting to classify everyone's exact position.

I think Champ was trying to reference the similarities between your descriptions of PD’s posts and how you post on another board. Hence the irony.

If you were not so arrogant and had a smidgeon of reading comprehension you'd know the above is full of lies.

-I've challenge our President to hold his employees accountable in very few posts. NEVER said he was terrible. Yes we've met and interacted a few times. He is VERY personable.

-I've challenged our AD to interact more with his low level LTAC donors and be open to new ideas that come from long time fans rather than trial runs from 23 year old marketing grads. We've talked on the phone and in person. Like many others here have posted, he now walks right on by without speaking and began doing that in his first year as AD.

-Never met our HC. Don't care to. He has done enough to get by here at Tech. He is consistently good and bad the same areas and refuses to change. That's never a good thing.

    Re: Suspensions or not lol

President- While athletics is the window through which the average person views your school.. I think being president in Louisiana, Miss, etc. is about keeping the academic doors open. That means dealing with the politicians in your state cap, as well as, whichever SEC/big 12 school is the bully on your block. With there being 11+ universities in a state the size of Louisiana that means fighting for academic/athletic funding that is minimal to start and split too many ways.

We are not unique here, look at the pressure that was applied to the leadership at UAB as one example. Public backlash resurrected that program.

The failure here, is he put someone in place to manage the athletics side hoping the AD would be able to take a large portion of the athletics off his plate and the AD has not done a good job. We should be moving on from TMac. Someone closer to how it works back home in Louisiana could speak to how easy it is to fire a state employee in that position.

The AD- poor job in multiple phases unless you have fairly deep pockets. he has killed the atmosphere at games, and he hasn't generated revenue he has simply shuffled deadlines and paper to create the illusion. Most of any recent monies were generated in response to the tornado damage I am sure. No one wants a repeat of that horrible event.

The HC- Is exactly what he has always been since before we hired him. What is happening is exactly what many ECU fans said would happen when we hired him. We die hards want more, but 90% of the world and all the LSU politicians wonder how we can not be elated with simply going to bowls and winning every so often, much less the 9 million in a row recently. Most people aren't willing to trade an almost sure bet 60-65% win total on something unknown. Most of us are, but not the people who may have a job dependent on that relative level of success.
