their final regular season game and finish 6-2, the
tie would not be broken through the first seven tiebreakers
and it would go down to average computer
ranking (Anderson and Hester, Billingsley, Colley
Matrix, Massey, Sagarin and Wolfe), with the highest
ranked team earning a spot in the Championship.

Given the rankings you posted, seems like Tech has a good shot unless beating FAU would cause USM to jump us. If USM loses, but UAB wins, we’re out.

But, yeah, given that MU, like any CUSA team is "decent" at best, they can be had. They just lost at Charlotte! But it wouldn't be because Smith was back, although he'd have to do his small part. The defense and ST would have to actually show up this time and the OL and Henderson would have to have a very good outing.

But, if we manage to win the west, isn't it more likely we're headed to FAU for the CG?

I believe it's a reaction based on long history and common sense? Our coach is 1-12 vs. P5s and 0-2 in conference championships.
