Holtz success has to be viewed in light of the strength (or weakness) of our current conference. As dawg80 said, Holtz pads his wins by beating terrible teams and generally fails to win when it counts.
He’s consistently failed to win a championship through poor control of his team (academic issues, team rule infractions, etc.).
Apathy is at an all time high BECAUSE Holtz fails to deliver anything other than bowl wins in low profile bowl games.
It sure would suck to be a part of a fan base who grew to expect excellence just because we experienced it once or twice. However, either our admin or coaches or both understand that beating KU, KSU, Miss St, Ark, South Car., or any decent conference foe would just breed more desire for success from the fan base. They don’t need that kind of pressure.

Manny Diaz lost with "Miami talent" to FIU. They all should count.... especially when they are Tech's peers, imo. Tech would not do well in the SEC (2-10-ish?), but they do very well in their league (8 or 9 wins a year). If Tech had the benefits of being in an elite league (money, staff, players, fans, television contracts, etc...) they would have a better chance of beating those programs consistently, imo.
If onlys and justs were candies and nuts, then everyday would be Erntedankfest.

That's all he can do and the only teams he can play. He doesn't make the schedule guys. Blame the past and current AD's on that one.
And you guys try "controlling" a bunch of 18-21 year old boys/very young men. Maybe in the Marines. But good luck with that method.

Although it is way past time for a CUSA football championship, this argument that the CUSA is a terrible conference is a bunch of bullshit. They are all terrible conferences except the SEC. Good teams are good, bad teams are bad. Take for instance the team in Lafayette, these loser are 10-2 and have 7 conference wins. They are trash. Y'all quit buying this fake news.
We have never beaten any of those teams. We are 0-3 against Arkansas, 0-2 against Tennessee, 0-5-1 against S. Carolina, and 0-1 against Vanderbilt.
