If that's truly the Indy Bowl's options, then they should pick UCF. An in-state matchup between UCF and Miami will sell out. None of the other oiptions offer that. The question is, will Miami and the ACC allow the Indy bowl to pick UCF.

No way will a UCF-Miami matchup sell out the Indy Bowl. If it does it will only be because someone bought tens of thousands of tickets as a promotion/give-away. Miami does not travel well. They have no fanbase.

Doesn't the ibowl have a contract with CUSA for a back-up team this year? Seems like it's CUSA and AAC. AAC sent a team last year I think.CUSA office ought to have a say in this year's game. I like the Air Force vs La Tech projection in DFW best. We've travelled well to DFW.

Aahhh, but UCF DOES! You and Johnny badly underestimate how badly UCF wants this. UCF followers have long accused the P5 Florida schools of dodging them. This would be the opportunity UCF fans have been waiting for.

Nah. The shine is off UCF. Pitt didn't dodge them. Add in a loss to the hapless Tulsa and I would bet UCF fans are as "down" as Tech fans this season.

Well, a matchup against Miami would certainly change that.

Can't know for sure, but I would bet Tech/Miami would have better attendance than UCF/Miami.

I would bet you're wrong. Furthermore, the Indy bowl community would benefit more from all those UCF fans flying in, renting hotel rooms and dining out, than they would from Tech fans staying at home.

Incidentally, UCF averaged 43,788 fans over 6 home games THIS season. And their attendance never wavered more than 2K per game.

The greater Orlando area has a population of around 2.6 million. Do you think Tech would average 40k if we had that kind of population in North Louisiana?

....what's that got to do with anything? Geeezzz......LOL!

I'm not here to play "what ifs" with you. What I do know is that UCF has a stadium full of real, passionate, fans every week at home. And they want to play Miami (or Florida or FLA St) real bad. So they would travel well to Shreveport's Indy Bowl to do it. That's all.

Something to remember when talking about the I-Bowl selling out with team that the fan base must fly to get to the game...... less than 800 people fly into Shreveport Regional a day. IF the airlines COULD increase their flights into Shreveport 10 folds it would still take 5 days to bring in 40K people (That is assuming every seat on the plane is occupied with someone attending the game!). Logistically, the Bowl must have a regional team that can drive in if they want to sell tickets.

We fly more then that into Tyler/Longview per day. Heck Tyler (Frontier Airlines) flies the big jets to Denver non-stop now and will soon be flying to Vegas and Orlando. Shreveport just sucks, is way overpriced and probably involves kickbacks to some of the founding fathers or something.

Some of these projections have us playing against the entire state of Louisiana . They must think we are very formidable.
