I'm still waiting for the new LIGMA predictor to post.
If Miami wants to play...bring their "A" game, they will both out-coach and out-athlete us. As it is, given the ole motivation factor, I think we will match them across the board. There is also the Skip-is-good-at-bowls factor. If Miami shows up...and does that, just shows up, we will beat them. For now I am counting on that.
The Manny Diaz factor? Hmmm...does it really matter to him who he is playing? Holtz hired him and surely wanted to keep him here as DC, so there is no hostility factor here (revenge). We all wanted Diaz to stay too! But, Diaz knows Holtz....well, even the average 11-year-old football fan knows Holtz by simply watching one game. Holtz should know Diaz's tendencies too, at least some.
I never bet on 18-22 year old kids, especially this generation of 'em. But, as a prediction, I think all the intangibles favor Tech. And thus:
Tech 27 Miami 21
They will shut down our "Read Option" rush offense. They did have 2 DE's declare for the draft. Assuming that they aren't playing will help us. It's going to be up to J'mar and the WR's to produce and score to win this game. We will not be able to run through this team with our standard offense.
Any word on how ticket sales are going?
There is still talk of the suspensions...the might have beens of beating MU and UAB...and how stupid Tech is, according to at least one poster. Our best DB has abandoned us. But, here we are on the cusp of a couple of accomplishments: a 10-win season and winning a 6th straight bowl, which if we do, and Wisconsin loses to Oregon in the Rose Bowl, a real possibility, would leave us as the lone standing school on this streak. As Pawdawg is fond of making fun of, we fans need to stay focused. Nah! But it wouldn't hurt for there to be some positive discussion on this board about the bowl, less than a week away.
In golf you can only play the shot in front of you. If you slice off the tee and hit the trees and are now looking at a tough second shot...well, that's the reality. How you deal with it is what's important, not lamenting you wished you had hit a better tee shot.
Tech is 9-3 and playing Miami in the Indy Bowl. That is "the shot" in front of us.
Even if we had gone to the championship game & won we probably would not have gotten a higher profile opponent than Miami, so let’s make the best of it & beat them.
Amik suffers from the Jaylon Smith syndrome. All the good prospects are afraid the same thing will happen to them their last game in college.
