Only the 14th meeting ever, wow. We lead 8-5 with 8 straight wins. Haven't played in 20 years.
Most of you are probably too young to remember (and some of you don't care), but back in the 1970's right up to the emergence of Tech as a power in WBB, SLU was a national powerhouse. They never won a NC, as I recall, but did reach the Final Four a couple of times. TV personality Robin Roberts played for SLU back then. She is from Mississippi but was a high school star and chose SLU because it was close to home, and also was a premier program.
Delta State was a national powerhouse too. They brought a bunch of fans, and their reputation, to Ruston and got smashed by 30 points. That was either 1978 or 1979. That marked the end of Delta State and the rise of the Lady Techsters.
(this history tidbit brought to you by D80...)
92-78 win.
I thought this would have been a lot closer then it was and possibly a loss. But we came out and punched them in the teeth in the 1st Q.
