Lawerence is playing poor tonight.
Well...congrats to Red Stick and their fans.
To add to the discussion of the topic, I was pulling for LSU because I like Joe Burrow. He's the kind of football player I enjoy watching. I don't think LSU winning is going to have a huge impact on our program. We're always going to lose the recruiting battle to them. Even if by some miracle we ever beat them or win a championship (or an even longer shot, win a championship,) they'll still get the best talent in the state. I don't even begrudge the SELU and ULL grads down here in south Louisiana who wear their purple and gold on Saturdays.
What I do resent are people like my mom, who has never spent 5 minutes in an LSU classroom and had two sons go to Tech, add a purple and gold "beat clemson" frame to her Facebook pic when she hasn't paid attention to a Tech game in 5 years. I resent people assuming I'm an LSU fan just because I live in south LA (had my Tech hat on today, lady in the store asked me if I was ready for the game tonight.) I resent my son text me this morning telling me i should see all the people on campus in LSU gear.
We're never going to be the team the high school grad or the grad from another university is going to run out and buy gear for. But we need to stop being the second favorite university of anyone with direct ties to our school.
Heavyarms, im the same way. Well said
Right there with you, Bro.
Tech has fewer of "those people" than most schools but still we have too many.
Glad I don’t have to be on Tech’s campus to see all the “wanna be” students sporting LSU gear.
Have to send student reps around campus with a box of t-shirts. Anyone wearing lsu stuff gets a shirt. Don’t berate them, but help them to see that state love and loyalty doesn’t have to extend to anything on that campus down there.
Hate LSU all you want, and I’m certainly no fan. But beside the fact they’re just at another level, their fans and administration demand excellence. While we’re giving bonuses to coaches for 8-5 records and our fans are giddy, that gets you fired at LSU.
Our goal/expectation should be to be the top G5 program in the country. Any expectation less than that should be unacceptable to our fan base. But it never has been, thus our 30 years in the highest division has been mediocre.
Congrats to LSU on arguably one of the best seasons in college football history. Unfortunately, we now have to listen to their legions of ignorant bandwagon fans.
