    Florida A&M ends streak!

As an aside, a story of a little interest...

FAM ended a long losing streak to Power 5 conference teams, in Men's hoops, beating Iowa State 70-68 recently. They had been 0-106 dating back to 1985.

I have no idea how many "Power 5" teams we have beaten in hoops since 1985, but it's more than a few. Anyway, congrats to the Rattlers for ending that slump.

In case you were wondering...and you were...we have 25 wins vs. P5 teams dating back to 1985. And about 3X that many losses. So, we are about 25-75, give or take a few "L's" during that time period.

We also have a few quality wins over teams like Bradley, Memphis, and Wichita State, and a few others, which are not members of a P5 conference, but are good basketball schools.

Very difficult to beat P5s on their home court all those years. With the NET formula, hope some will want to play neutral court or work a home-home.

    NET Adjusted Win Percentage
    +1.4 Road Win
    +1.0 Neutral Win
    +0.6 Home Win

    -0.6 Road Loss
    -1.0 Neutral Loss
    -1.4 Home Lose

I will never go along with the term "P5" in basketball. Just doesn't exist. Many basketball schools are G5 in football or FCS. That doesn't mean that they are not constants in the top 25. No designation is needed in basketball. It is the term that screwed us in football already - don't give anyone the satisfaction of having that in basketball, where any school in 1a can compete for a national championship (even if it is more difficult).

I don't disagree with you but you know as well as I that basketball programs in the SEC, ACC, Big 10, etc enjoy a HUGE advantage over programs like ours. They have spectacular facilites, perks, money out their yazoos, and TV deals that give kids the kind of exposure they crave. It may not be fair, and you can use whatever terminology that makes you feel good, but it doesn't change the reality.

Also, out of our 100 games vs. such "P5" teams, we have played about 4 or 5 on our homecourt, another 10-12 at a neutral site, and the rest, 85+ at their place, with their refs.

Moral of this story? We have faired better than Florida A&M.

. I certainly don't disagree that some programs and conferences have more money and benefits. I just don't want to buy into a made up term to help further the divide in perception. If we allow that to happen, it will become worse - we could have the football situation in the future, if people buy into the term.
