    State of Louisiana Football

It's been a pretty good year for major college football in Louisiana.

    LSU 14-0
    Tech 10-3
    ULL 11-3
    Tulane 7-6
    ULM 5-7

Thats a combined record of 47-19 for a .712 win percentage. Take out the little school from Monroe and it goes to 42-12 for a .778 win percentage.

Louisiana is also 4-0 in bowl games so far this year. Pretty impressive.

Same for me! The other Louisiana Schools don't mean anything to me. I do cheer for FCS Southern at times. I have one of my degrees from them. I have no connection at all to the others and they do not represent me in any way.

    This.

Though I do have a soft spot for Grambling (took some summer classes there) and Centenary (bc Methodist).

I'm not saying I'm glad the other schools have done so well. I'm just saying its pretty impressive for "little ole Louisiana". It would be interesting to know what percentage of players on these teams are from Louisiana. Also is there another state in the country that has 3 10+ teams?

Louisiana schools doing well should come as no surprise. We are one of the top 5 states for high school football and produce more Division I scholarship players, per capita, than any other state, and it's not even close.

For the seminaries, it will likely be 100 percent go “progressive”. Colleges may be a little less

This has been a long time coming. Expect it to get worse. Schools like Centenary which are almost completely run by progressives and secular alumni will most definitely go progressive or fully divorce themselves from the church altogether. Duke did this decades ago.

I suspect as much from Centenary. I just don’t know if there is a more traditional Methodist college left out there somewhere.

Yea, Centenary isn't very traditional Methodist. It's moved progressive for a long time, really. Some of the Wesleyan schools around the midwest and east coast still have a strong evangelical lean but most UMC church schools are basically just secular schools

    Re: State of Louisiana Football

I typically root for the other Louisiana schools to win (especially LSU and ULL because they were a part of my sports fandom in my youth). I also want Tech to beat our fellow state schools convincingly whenever we face them head-to-head (especially ULL and ULM). I will take a win over LSU by any means, maybe even if we have to cheat.

Unfortunately, there isn't all that much to be greatly impressed about in the combined 21 wins of Tech and ULL. There is a whole lot of weak C-USA, Sun Belt, and MAC competition in those wins. Our 10 wins are disappointing knowing we truly could have had a great chance for a 12 or 13 win season were it not for the suspension junk.
