He can be interested all he wants but he would do horrible at Mississippi State and I think most people can see that. He would be in a conference division with Nick Saban, Jimbo Fisher, Guz Malzahn, Lane Kiffin, and Orgeron's LSU team that's now rolling. We complain that Skip beats the teams he is supposed to beat and loses to the teams he is expected to lose to. He would automatically lose 5 games every year by that metric in the SEC West and he would be lucky to be get as high as 5th in it. But maybe they have low expectations in Starkville. There are better candidates for sure.
Didn't Billy Brewer do this in the day? Or was that Ole Miss?
Brewer went to Ole Miss, his alma mater. I believe he was their top target because he played for Vaught during Ole Miss’ glory years.
If he wants it, let him go have it. Can’t blame the man for that one bit. But Ruston is a damn easy job - little pressure, 6-7 easy wins a year, etc.
If he bails, it tells me our QB situation is worse than we believe.
Also, if he leaves, let every assistant coach, sans the strength coach walk thy day.
Holts took us to 6 straight bowls but never could get all the pieces together at the right time.
IF, if he takes the MSU job, he will be fired in less than 3 seasons. He will be lucky to have a .400 winning percentage after 3 years.
Hell, he will lose to Southern Miss at least once when MSU plays them.
We should pay him more. He almost got an interview this time.
