On Tuesday morning, Louisiana Tech head coach Skip Holtz announced the promotion of Joe Sloan to offensive coordinator. Sloan will also oversee the Tech quarterbacks in his elevated role.

To me this is nothing more than another Holtz ‘beholding’ hire or in this case a promotion of sorts. It’s seems solidified that Holtz will not have a true OC. All he wants is someone to assign the title to while he continues to do it all his way. With this coaching setup you can look for the same old game style of play in 2020 with the exception of however Tech’s new QB is handicapped with over protectiveness. This is Holtz’s team and by god you’re going to have to learn to accept it, yawn. Yawn, meaning we’ll see how many wins the other teams give us because we’re likely not to take any from anyone. This has nothing to do with Sloan’s capabilities. He might be very capable. It’s more that he probably won’t get much of a chance to exhibit it.

I would imagine Sloan knows what he's getting into better than anybody. It's a logical choice. Let's see what happens.
