Looking Ahead: CUSA Season 2nd Half Play

Half way through CUSA we're sitting in 13th place at 2-7: 1/2 game ahead of 2-8 FIU, tied (but lost head-to-head) with 2-7 UTSA. Top twelve make tournament.

Yet we're also one free throw from being tied for 8th with four three win teams: USM, NT, Marshall, FAU.

Six of our remaining nine CUSA games are against these 2 or 3 win teams. Three at home, three on the road. Four wins might get us in the tournament. Three a slight possibility but depends on on CUSA math plus which three we beat. We ought to be able to win 5 of them.

HOME: WKU, Marshall, USM, FIU, Rice

AWAY: FIU, FAU, UTSA, WKU

Season 3 for this staff and we are not making progress. How is it we are 1/2 game out of last place?

My bigger question is whether there is any post-season scenario where we pull the plug on this experiment?

I had such high hopes for Brooke. Perhaps the Techsters are simply fundamentally broken beyond hope of repair

The guy who took Brooke's place at NSU, Dupuy, has resigned under pressure given how horrible the Lady Demons are. He was in the 4th year of his 4-year contract and will be paid thru April 4th. So, if coaches are forced out in WBB at a place like NSU...whoa!

Brooke should also resign. Do the right thing for her alma mater and take her hubby and go somewhere else.

I'm not saying we ought to give up, in those words. There is always a slim chance (but that chance may soon be gone).

What I don't want is false hope, and to have a solid plan for the future.

We might not ever make the Dance again but it'd be nice to have a functioning basketball team at least.

I hope we finish strong and see encouragement for the future.The direction of the program is much more important to me than one season. At times I've seen our CUSA recruiting ranked 14th and 10th the past two seasons.

We have quality young ladies, strong academics, approachable and engaging with fans, fine representatives of Louisiana Tech. Looking forward to driving to Ruston to cheer for our Techsters tonight, Saturday, and every home game this season.

Concern for competitiveness and recruiting has been expressed here by many for a couple of years. Here's my BBB comments from spring and fall of 2018 copied and pasted:



"At least two very good recruiting classes from competing for CUSA titles. And maybe one weak class from trylng to avoid the cellar.

Meanwhile CUSA is trending upward. Next year WKU, UAB, MTSU, NTSU, Rice, Charlotte will be projected above us. USM usually splits with us. Gotta have a load of sophomores and freshman read to play major roles in two years. Good thing I'm a sunshine pumper.

Love each of our Techsters, love Brooke, but we're on the edge. But if we're 14 out of 14 in recruiting, Lord help us."



We've seen outstanding, dominating, athletic freshman playing for UTSA and UTEP. Saturday Old Dominion had 53 points and over 20 rebounds from freshman/sophomores. We did have 22 points from Sophomore Keuinna Walker who is really getting good: a star for our future. Freshman Lotte Sant can shoot the three.

I love the Lady Techsters and would hate to see our relevance drop to the level of tennis or bowling.
