The distortions have come from the left and they continue. Blue states are effed up. All of them.

Every time Fauci backs off one of his unscientific claims you make excuses for him and the stupid models he forced on us.

What unscientific claim has he backed off of? You guys are taking statements he has made out of context and acting like he was making a universal proclamation that applies to all times of past, present and future.

When you look at the full context of what he says it is abundantly clear that he is offering guidance that is contextual - controlling the spread of coronavirus requires different strategies at different times and the guidance is updated as the situation on the ground evolves.

Another little gem that you won't really see or hear about:'This is my big worry': Obama officials and other Democrats fear strong, post-coronavirus economic recovery

Democrats are bracing for the political impact of lifted lockdown restrictions across the country and other measures that could lead to a boom in the economy following the coronavirus pandemic, according to a new report.

Jason Furman, one of former President Barack Obama's top economic advisers, gave a presentation to top Democratic strategists and donors last month.
He shocked the group with his prognostication.

Trusted advisers to presumptive Democratic nominee for president Joe Biden and former Obama officials are concerned that a bounce back in the U.S. economy could take away a weapon they planned to use against President Trump.
“This is my big worry,” one former adviser to Obama told the outlet.“We are about to see the best economic data we’ve seen in the history of this country," he said, according to Politico. "Everyone looked puzzled and thought I had misspoken."

Since when did you start watching CNN or MSNBC?

You should read what Fauci actually said instead of the useless right wing summary of what he said - he essentially says it is coming - he was equivocating on whether HE would necessarily call it a “wave” if we are able to control it. In other words, the conditions will be present for a second wave, but we might be able to blunt it so that it isn’t a big enough deal to register as a wave (in his view of the term) if we can test, contact trace and isolate to keep the cases from getting as out of hand as in the first “wave” (and these numbers are still really bad - still adding around 20k new cases a day and 1.5k deaths per day). Then again maybe there isn’t a second wave because the first wave never ends...

He recently said he could not see schools opening in the fall.

When will we be to the point that he didn't say this?

I don’t hang on every word the guy says - what exactly did he say about schools in the fall?

I did and everything he said was reasonable, so I can’t guess how you are taking it out of context.

Is this what has you confused:

One of Fauci's comments in particular stirred up a lot of response.

Committee Chairman Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn, asked Fauci how he would advise a public school principal of a university chancellor on how to reassure families that it's safe to return in August.

"I would tell [the chancellor] that, in this case, that the idea of having treatments available, or a vaccine, to facilitate the re-entry of students into the fall term would be something that would be a bit of a bridge too far," Fauci said.

But, even without a vaccine, leaders can reopen schools once they are confident their states and communities have the capability to test the population frequently, to trace the spread of the illness, and to quickly quarantine people who may have been exposed, Fauci said.

Some on Twitter left out the second part of Fauci's comments, seeming to suggest he was saying schools shouldn't open at all until there is a vaccine. At the end of the meeting, Alexander circled back to the comments and asked him to clarify.

"Absolutely not," Fauci said, when asked if a lack of a vaccine meant students couldn't return to school.
You guys really need to understand Trump and his propaganda outlets are distorting reality to yank your chains. You can’t trust them to represent the truth to you.

Goosey, you have invested a lot in Fauci. He is the all-knowing, infallible Maha Perfecto. His word is scientific law! He knows everything. Er….right?

To be fair to Fauci, the media have painted him into a corner. They are looking at him as the expert and expect him to be clairvoyant, he is not. He is a scientist, who has been asked direct and pointed questions by the media, almost like gotcha questions. Fauci has been asked, IMO, stupid questions, so he has to answer them strictly in a medical sense and forgo the other "fallout" and unintended consequences because he is not being asked to access the "risk". For example.. if someone were to ask you, how to eliminate all deaths in auto accidents, the answer would be to not allow any cars to drive over 5 mph, or just stay home and never leave your house. Every time you step outside, there is some type of risk. The question is, as an individual, are you willing to accept the risk of doing what you were wanting to do and live with the risk.

As a nation, we have to live with risks, that is what comes with being free. If you want zero risk, then I suggest either locking yourself in your home and never leaving, or find a deserted island and just exist.

Had to watch them because they were putting together a panel of "experts" and then invited Greta Thunburg to be on the panel.. Even you have to admit, what in the hell could she contribute as an "expert" on Covid-19?

No one is against taking all risks. Literally, no one.

There are two main issues dictating why things got shut down:

    1. The health concerns associated with a runaway pandemic and how this would play out in our health care system.

    2. The economic costs to GDP of not getting the disease under control.

Before the local city governments started to issue their shelter-in-place orders, many businesses were already voluntarily shutting down to protect their workers and customers. Even after lockdowns are lifted, many businesses are not going to operate the same when people are concerned about the risk of getting sick.

Why aren’t people flying? Is it because they are not allowed to?

That is the problem with our current situation - reopening “too early” may result in a prolonged period of time where the disease is so prevalent that enough people still don’t feel safe to keep businesses afloat. For example, if 2 more weeks of complete shutdown allows for a 90% return to normal at the end of the shutdown that is better for the economy than going back 2 weeks earlier but persisting at 70% normal for several months before finally getting back to 90%. Of course I just made these numbers up to illustrate the point. I don’t know the actual numbers, but that is the real economic tradeoff at issue.

People won’t fully go back to normal until they feel it is safe. Sure, some will, but not everyone, and possibly not enough to save the businesses that you are trying to save by ending the lockdown.

Which leads back to masks....such a small sacrifice we can all make to get us back to normal faster.
