Say what!? Goosey blames Trump for not having every American tested back in January! Goosey says Trump failed to take advantage of his travel ban...i.e. he fumbled the ball...because Trump did not start testing immediately. That was the end of January. So, how can we be out of tests now?

Well, that is how exponential growth works. Could have gotten by with fewer tests at the beginning (tens of thousands), but now you need millions.

I have read articles explaining that you can take an online survey to determine if you have the symptoms to require testing. Also, articles state that you need only a referral from your primary care physician. Further, it says this prevents unnecessary exposure at clinics and hospitals. Sounds to me like no prescription is required.

So, on April 2, the projection was over 90,000 dead by August. Then on the 6th it was revised to just over 80,000. Now today, revised to just over 60,000. More Americans are abiding by the social distancing standard than the original models predicted. If they keep revising every 2-4 days, the Dems will be very upset that Trump didn’t kill enough people. Idiots.

Depends where you live. Texas is still undertesting for purposes of counting cases. I know folks that called a doc, had the symptoms, and the doc said there was no need to test because they would only tell them to self-isolate at this stage anyway (no shortness of breath).

You should watch, young Padoin. When the numbers come in lower than Trump/Birx/Fauci projected (100k-200k), it will be Republicans - not Democrats complaining. It will be Republicans that draw the comparison to the flu again and say we crushed the economy for the same damage as the flu. Idiots.

Testing who, exactly? Which 10,000 Americans would you have tested back then? And...with what test? Have to mention we, the world!!! (except maybe for China) had ZERO tests in January and no one was quite sure how to calibrate the test. Couldn't use the regular flu test because C-19 is not the regular flu. AND! there are still faulty...really, unreliable...tests being used now. That was especially true as recently as late February.

Even an imperfect test would have been better than no test after the China travel restriction. We would have rolled it out as part of flu testing in the 5 major cities as originally proposed. Please try to keep up so I don’t have to keep typing the same stuff into my phone over and over again.

Which 5 major cities and exactly when are you talking about, Feb 1? Feb 2? When? The initial case here was in Washington state, so would Seattle have been 1 of the 5 major cities? If so, that would have been a waste of tests and time. California was an early hot spot, so I guess LA, SF...SD, maybe? Again more waste of tests (which still didn't exist anyway then) and time!

No way would New Orleans had been considered as 1 of the 5 critical cities for testing...not back then in early February. The first positive case in Louisiana was March 9th. The city wasn't even on the radar for testing consideration in early February, especially if somehow we had some thousands of tests to deploy...which we didn't. Your argument is stupid. It's not even an argument! It's "let's throw more chit at the wall and hope something sticks that we can use against Trump."

The fact you keep typing BS over and over in your phone sounds like a personal problem. The rest of us are living in the real world...I'd suggest you try to keep up, but won't as it would just be a waste of time.

Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Seattle (which we’re determined based on typical travel from China) were the cities designated for initial testing, with the idea of contact tracing and adding other cities later.

Timing - first couple weeks of February.

Even if it turns out this screening wouldn’t completely contain the contagion already in the US, it would have at least provided early insight as to where suppression (such as social distancing) needed to be deployed.

Lives would be saved, but for some reason - failure was an option for this critical path item. If the US were a company, the CEO would lose his job for this failure.

And Dr. Fauci and other so called experts would be hanging from lamp posts.

Not if he was half black and wrecked an entire health care system.

I laughed at Biden and Bernie today when they DEMANDED "quality and affordable health care for all". We've heard those lies before.

Well...the company will have a chance to vote out the CEO in November....

Well, Trump certainly is quick to fire subordinates that display any lacking of a priori loyalty to him.

I should add - but competence has never been a requirement for any job under Trump.
