My job requires me to follow economists a little more than the CDC. The article pertains to the market and the virus. It gives historical perspective of past cases (MERS, SARS).

I have almost 0% chance of getting COVID-19, but my chance of getting the flu is a little more. Why isn't the new talking about the 8200 deaths from the flu??? Because it doesn't get viewers.

    SD:

The report from "First Trust" ignores the fact that - unlike the flu - a relatively small number of cases of C19 will result in a town or city to either be locked down or dramatically slowed.

There are fewer than 250 cases in the Lombardy region of Italy, but that's caused the lockdown of 11 towns and a dramatic slowdown of Milan, a city of 1.4 million people.

You are correct in that you have an almost 0% chance of getting C19, but if just a handful of people in a place like Shreveport get it that will have a fairly big impact on your life. That's why people are following it and the news media is covering it.

Plus China’s economy is several times larger than it was for SARS/MERS. The impact to global supply chains due to this hitting China and South Korea will affect supply of many goods/components for most of Q1.

Reductions to travel, services as folks choose to stay in will impact demand for those companies and for the energy they require.

It appears the C19 is just as infective at the flu but more lethal. If not contained, it would seem probable that more people would die from this disease than the ordinary flu. That is why it is getting all the attention and why there is such an effort to contain it.

And libtards are rooting for a spread of the Coronavirus so President Trump will be blamed. Typical of the Violent Left wishing death and destruction on innocent people just so their thirst for power (and wealth) will be served. Pure evil.

I spoke with each of the other libtards at our weekly roundtable lunch meeting yesterday. None of them are rooting for coronavirus.

Please provide the name of the libtard who told you that so we can kick his ass at next week's meeting.

Nobody is rooting for this virus. That goes beyond politics.

It is also appears the mortality rate is higher where Socialized medicine (Medicare for all is practiced. Also, the early vaccination and best treatment regiments are coming out of free market medicine.

A high percentage require ICU treatment. We don’t have the resources to handle that either.

My colleagues in Shanghai have been working from home since the lunar new year.

Do you know what that sort of disease control would do to small businesses in the US? Many can’t afford to pay salaried employees that long if their businesses are effectively shut down for several weeks.

It can't happen here, but keep trying to spread the fake BS.

Obviously the experts at the CDC disagree with you.

I would guess you are probably wrong, but just as you have no proof, I don't either. I am guessing we even have someone on this thread that hopes for it to continue as a big issue- I hope not. If you watch the news, everything is based on politics these days.
