There's two sides to every coin and every story. One side is glorious. KM reaches 600 wins faster than ANY D1 MB or WB basketball coach in history. Congratulations Kim! The other side is the worst AD and athletic president in school history allow this same great coach to leave our school over some petty contract issues and disdain for the future of what at the time was one of the great WB programs. Now look where she is and we ain't. What we are now is a program that may never even win its own conference again - certainly not trending in that direction over the last several years. The tale of two programs. Should make for a great ESPN drama documentary -

This will always be a part of our history, but it has been so long since we have been in anyone's thoughts regarding WBB, other than TECH, sadly no one cares. I wish we would fire the current coaches, find someone that is hungry to win and willing to do the work to do that. I would love to at least be able to win the conference again- it shouldn't be that difficult! I don't think anyone believes we will be in the national hunt again, but a conference win would be nice.

At this point I will settle for a winning season...

Re: Good piece on Kim Mulkey

Glory days. So glad I witnessed it first hand, most times at the baseline.

The TAC used to be packed to the rafters for WBB. Kim was the hub of her teams; the quintissential point guard.

When there was a double header for men's and women's, the men would usually play first and the women were the main attraction. The crowds would double in size by the time the women's game would start. Of course, Karl, Willie, AD, Wayne, Rennie, Robert Godbolt, and yes, David Jordan , built something special to the point that when the double headers happened in Karl's second year, the TAC was ROCKING.

But you have to remember that this excellence started at the very top. FJ Taylor DEMANDED EXCELLENCE and had the fortitude to BELIEVE that little ol Tech in Ruston, LA could have the best WBB team in the country. And they did it. It was a different era.

Until we have the admin that is not afraid to whip these coaches into shape or finds coaches that DEMAND EXCELLENCE, AND WONT SETTLE FOR MEDIOCRACY, this is it. Talent is available. The legend to live up to is there. The belief is missing.
