It's time to finally win one up there. And there's never been a better time than now.
Seems the game would be in Ruston since already travelled to Ky. I guess a bonus play quirk.
Gotta hit a bunch of 3's, and at a high rate, like 50%+. We'll get clobbered on the FT line. They'll shoot 25 and make 20ish, we'll be lucky to shoot 6...and make 3.
But, ya never know...
Go Dawgs!
I think Kalob Ledoux needs to have a hot night. He's the wildcard. He averages 11.4 pts per game, but scored only 4 in our last game at WKU. He's got to do better than that. And he's perfectly capable of getting hot and scoring 20.
The other wildcard for us is Amorie Archibald. He's averaging 11.1 pts per game, and scored only 8 in our previous meeting against WKU. That ain't gonna cut it either.
Everybody on our team --except Colby Williams-- shot below their per game season average in our last trip to WKU. Williams, who averages 4 pts per game, scored 7. We just need some people to step up and HIT THEIR AVERAGES tonight And then, Ledoux and Archie can push Tech over the top.
Hard not to feel a degree of suspicion going into this game. It seems like when we get right at the brink of topping the hill, we lose our footing and slide back down. Traction isn't gained by repeating the same thing. I don't see it happening unless we wear them out. Of course, we could shoot better than normal and they could shoot worse. But that's not really a strategy.
Have you considered those Dogs?
It's going to be really interesting to watch the number of free throws WKU takes vs how many LA Tech takes.
In our previous meeting, LA Tech shot only 4 free throws (and made 2), while WKU shot 23 free throws (and made 19). If the officiating is that one-sided again, T-Mac should have just cancelled our trip to Bowling Green.
Yeah, once we sped them up with the pressure, they had difficulty getting into their sets. By then, it was too late. Sure, we might surrender a few uncontested baskets but it's the cumulative effect that pays off.
Have you considered those Dogs?
Oh, clearly it's part of WKU's game strategy. But the sad part is it works!
Here's the "free throw advantage" WKU had vs the teams they played after facing LA Tech:
FREE THROWS:
WKU - 24
USM - 11
WKU - 19
UTEP - 12
WKU - 32 (yes, 32 free throws)
UTSA - 10
WKU - 23
Charlotte - 7
That's a huge difference in each game. Big advantage for WKU. We just need Konkol & Company to get a clue.
Powell is the laziest player in the country
I'm still trying to understand how we can look so much better than WKU, but only have a 4-pt lead? Unbelievable.
I do think Konkol kept an almost frantic pace going in the first half, just to wear the Toppers down a bit. WKU's fatigue should show late in the 2nd half.
