Re: Bulldogs Defeat Black Bears in Home Opener

    Back in the day....

much like the glory days of our very own WBB, the Maine Black Bears have a rich history in baseball. They have 7 College World Series appearances, the last being in 1986. The NCAA baseball tourney used to be truly REGIONALS. As it, and basketball, should be today, IMO. Teams qualifying for the baseball "dance" were placed geographically for the regionals. Because of that, Maine was in the playoffs vs. other northeast, New England-area teams and they usually dominated those, reaching Omaha seven times. I used to root for them in Omaha, when the games would be on TV, as they were huge underdogs against traditional powers like USC, Texas, Florida State...etc..
