As I just posted on another thread, well, looks like we picked the right year to build ourselves a new baseball/softball stadium(s).

It's kinda getting ridiculous. This thing is being blown way out of proportion! Using Coronavirus as a precedence, we should just cancel the rest of our lives because of the yearly flu. Way more people die of the flu each year!

No political implications or results come from a several thousand dying of the flu. A few hundred deaths of those past life expectancy is something they can cash in on.

Just wondering if the NCAA will grant spring sports athletes another year of eligibility if the remainder of season is cancelled.

Only if they play in a P5 league.

You would think the answer would be an obvious "yes". But, baseball has so few scholarships that this would really hurt next year's freshmen trying to get a scholarship.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe they could have 1 year increase in scholarships of 25% to make up for this.

I was thinking the same. Then I thought, what a great time to permanently increase the limits to a sensible number instead of the current insanity.

What is a sensible number of scholarships? I am just wondering what you think the number should be.

At least 15 with the current split rules. Keep the roster at 35.

The NCAA is of course going to offer some sort of eligibility relief. They are working on the details of how it will work out fairly. Obviously it is not priority one at the moment.

Just of the top of my head, without much time out into this idea. Seniors on scholarship this year should maintain their scholarships next year without it counting against program maximums. Non-scholarship players should be granted an additional year of eligibility as well.

The key thing to watch for is unintended loopholes. You always have the Dana Holgorsen types who will find those unintended loopholes to benefit themselves. D'Eriq King, of course, pulled his own crap at the end. Two perfect examples of what is wrong with college athletics.
